Mangled profile

I feel like a noob, but here goes.

I have a version of TBP that I use on my main desktop. At some point, I must have hit "Update" and now have mess. I know how to transfer a profile from an installed to a portable version (copy profile) but it seems that some of my information is in the portable location, and some at the "Application Data" location. Copying either makes the new portable version act like a new install. Does this make sense? (Be kind.) Is there a way to save this, or should I just use this as an opportunity to migrate to TB 3.0?

TP writes two keys to registry, where does this come from?

Submitted by robw on September 1, 2009 - 10:04am

Hi all,

It seems it's 'portable apps problem week' this week Wink

My TP writes two keys (.... = email adres) to the registry:
-one to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\.....
-one to HKEY_USERS\\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\.....

I can remove them from the registry, but every time I ran TP they're there again.
It's a bit annoying, as I cannot run TP on a PC without leaving 'a trail' Wink

Running TP 2.0.0.23, only addon is Lightning 0.9 for my calender.

Use TBird Portable on secondary systems (home network) to access mail and addresses stored on primary desktop.

I am moving my OUTLOOK mail etc. to TBird on a new desktop with multiple drives and partitions. I will point TBird to store its data on a separate partition and will setup a share on the folders. I think I can make all of that work OK.

Thunderbird portable crashes when trying to reply / forward a message

Submitted by Jaydscho on August 25, 2009 - 5:31pm

After upgrading to 2.0.0.23 Thunderbird portable crashes when trying to reply / forward a message.
OS is Win XP Pro SP3.
Thunderbird is installed on a memory stick with enough free capacity.
Detailled information about the crash might be included in the 45k big file file df6b_appcompat.txt which is mentioned in the error message.
How should I submit the information included in the file?

What is the problem with TB?

Thanx for your help!

TB 2.0.0.23 upgrade cleared all my emails out

Submitted by Dauphinflyer on August 21, 2009 - 6:33am

I just got a prompt to upgrade my TBP to the latest version and of course I did as I am told only to find all my emails were wiped and TBP asking if I wanted to set up my email accounts.

That's naughty.

Good thing I back up my emails regularly.

Anyone else had this experience or was i just unlucky?
