Firefox Portable

During Firefox4Beta and Firefox3.6 I had no problems with saving plugins in to either one of the two plugin directories which travel with the portable app.
This of course being important for Flash and Shockwave use.
(Details on how to do this can be found elsewhere on these forums, that's not the purpose of this post-> carry on hunting sorry!)

I'm also aware of the about:config switch to turn OFF scanning for local plugins (plugin.scan.plid.all switched to false does this if you don't want to use local plugins).

I've got the opposite problem.

I'm trying to get a feel of Firefox 4 before actually installing it by using the Mozilla Firefox Portable Edition from PortableApps via a removable USB flashtick drive.

I still have Firefox 3.6.16 installed on my hard drive, and I never use the two versions concurrently.

Today I started using Firefox Portable 3.6.16 on a system with a very old version of Firefox (v1.x). That old Firefox has no extensions or plugins installed. Firefox Portable is listing many extensions and plugins like a "Move Media Player" extension and Adobe Acrobat plugin. How is that possible?

I am using Firefox Portable version 3.6.16. Everywhere that I should see three periods, i.e. "...", I am seeing a black vertical bar. For example, here is what my tabs look like: http://www2.picturepush.com/photo/a/5389060/640/5389060.jpg

Text on the buttons under Tools->Options also exhibits this behavior. Anyone have an idea what it could be? Running Windows XP SP3.

I know I am one of the few but I am not ready to go to Firefox 4. Is there a way for me to upgrade to 3.6.16 using the legacy download. I tried installing and it did what it is intended to do, made a new Firefox installation. I really only want to update my current portable installation.

Extract: xul.dll...95%

Tried to install downloads on different dates.
Allways no complete(xul.dll...95%) installation!

Why?
(FFP4.0 beta_11 had no installation problem)
(Same problem with german version of FFP4.0 (xul.dll...95%))

I would like to change Cache location from %FxPortable%/Data/Profile/Cache to %temp%.
Default about:config pref that does that - it doesn't work on portable Fx. Please, help.

Block firefox portable? Can it be done at schools etc?

If so how?

FFP V. 3.6.11, I have this addon called Metastream 3 plugin, it has a red exclamation point and everything about it is grayed out, I want to remove it how do I do this ? It's been disabled in FF because it is on some blockllist and I can do anything via the addon manager, so I would imagine this will be a particular folder to delete.

I use Firefox Portable at work. I updated to 4.0 but when I maximize the window the new Firefox button doesn't appear (the whole menu remains visible with the tabs below). Does anyone know how I can make the Firefox button appear?
