Portable Chrome causing PC Chrome to stop functioning

Submitted by juhache on June 9, 2011 - 5:24am

So after using Chrome on my work PC through my USB drive and thinking "Wow this is amazing, will prove very useful"

I turn off my PC and go home.

The next day, I return to work, open up chrome to access all the websites I need for my day to day working and well.

Chrome on my PC does nothing.
I click, nothing. I think maybe the shortcuts broken, I try to the actual .exe in the program files, nothing. I try running as Admin, nothing.

I think "balls to this", uninstall it and redownload it.
Lost all my add-ins and everything, but it works.

Portable Skype 5.3.0.111 - Can't connect

Submitted by Groovee on June 7, 2011 - 9:28am

I try to use Portable Skype 5.3.0.111.

I am behind a Proxy Server....i configured the settings in Portable Skype options.

Every time i want to log in it tells me "Skype can't connect"

Proxy is 100% correct....i use it for all other internet connections. I can see in the firewall (not the local one...hardware one for complete network) that it tries to connect directly to the internet even when i configure Portable Skype to use proxy.

Can this problem be solved and if yes how??

Thx!

GnuCash 2.4.6 language issue

Submitted by slo59 on June 6, 2011 - 6:50am

Hello!

I tried to change Language of GnuCash Portable-2.4.6 but no success:
1. Your manual "Setting GnuCash Portable to Use a Specific Language"
language=sl (and also sl_SI, Slovenian), but all not working
2. Installed full (nonportable) version GnuCash-2.4.6 and tried to set language to slovenian as in the manual "If you are running GnuCash 2.4.0 (or newer) on Windows, you can set the interface language by editing the file environment with a text editor (e.g. Notepad). By default this file is installed in c:\Program Files\gnucash\etc\gnucash." but also with no luck.

Opera portable doesn't remember language settings (11.11 & 11.50 beta 1)

Submitted by janek.sid on June 5, 2011 - 4:43am

The problem seems to be the same in latest stable version of Opera portable 11.11, and latest beta version, which is 11.50 beta 1 portable.

When I first start Opera Browser, the default interface language is English. Then I go to Menu->Settings->Preferences (or just press Ctrl + F12) and on first tab, on the bottom, where description is: "Select your preferred language for Opera and webpages" I select my preferred language (which is Polish for me) on drop down menu. Then I click OK.

wiresharkportable already in PortableApps Format (great utility)

Submitted by anghb on May 30, 2011 - 8:32pm

I've come to use wireshark application, and found from their download that the portable version is formatted in PortableApps format. Tried loading the software from PotableApps shell, and it worked.

When starting the apps and trying it, there is a flaw, which is winpcap. The program works with it, and it is not part of wiresharkportable.

Check it out anyway. Look at the URL below and see the familiar package name format.
