[Fixed] RedNotebook Portable 1.1.4 leaves files behind

RedNotebook Portable is apparently leaving %USERPROFILE%\webkit\icondatabase\WebpageIcons.db and %USERPROFILE%\.gtk-bookmarks behind when run. We'll need to confirm the exact locations with regshot on Windows XP and then Vista\7 and handle them in the launcher.ini. This change to the RedNotebookPortable.ini file may fix the problem but needs testing:

[Launch]
ProgramExecutable=RedNotebook\Rednotebook.exe

[DirectoriesMove]
user=%PAL:AppDir%\RedNotebook\user

[FilesMove]
.recently-used.xbel=%USERPROFILE%
gtkfilechooser.ini=%APPDATA%\gtk-2.0

Using PStart & RemoveDrive. Want to stop Dropbox on exit.

Submitted by yoyology on April 27, 2011 - 12:18pm

tl;dr version: "Is there a way to convince either PStart or RemoveDrive to shut down Dropbox before exiting?"

I know I'm using outdated stuff here, but I'm happy with my setup *waves cane*.

I have multiple portable apps living happily on a 16GB flash drive. I use PStart (version 2.11) to keep everything at my fingertips and RemoveDrive (version 1.9.4.3) to run on exit, so I can kill PStart and stop the drive with one click when I'm ready to move from one computer to another.

Inkscape bug - missing lxml

Submitted by Laur on April 27, 2011 - 9:27am

While using Inkscape Portable, I tried to save the file as a .dxf and encountered the following error message:

The fantastic lxml wrapper for libxml2 is required by inkex.py and therefore this extension. Please download and install the latest version from http://cheeseshop.python.org/pypi/lxml/, or install it through your package manager by a command like: sudo apt-get install python-lxml

I assume that this would also affect other effects that rely on lxml.

Portablizing Chrome Extension Switchy

Submitted by Glorfyboy on April 26, 2011 - 10:09am

I'd like to make the Chrome Extension Switchy portable. For its automatic switching rules it creates a file then points the IE settings to it under LAN settings. I'd like for the launcher to clean this up when I close chrome portable, is this possible?

Here's the site for the extension: http://switchy.samabox.com/

It's a pretty nice utility and it's what allows me to access portableapps.com at work, and post this actually. I'd appreciate any help or guidance, thanks.

Listary 3.1.477, function flaws, crashes

Submitted by NiMhurchu on April 24, 2011 - 5:42am

I have just given Listary Portable 3.1.477 a try on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, SP1.
The first thing I noticed is that I can add an application, but on the next run of the options dialogue, it's gone.
The hotkeys (ctrl-shift-r for command shell, ctrl-shift-t for toggle file extensions for example) do not work, neither in Explorer nor anywhere else.
The shortcuts (/cmd, or /add) do not work.

After all, the program keeps crashing in different situations, e. g. clicking the items in the options dialogue, pressing Win-W and typing, trying to configure an application.

How to: GNUWin32 tools in Command Prompt Portable

Submitted by BungieCord on April 22, 2011 - 3:39pm

I've done a lot of modifying of environmental parameters for other PortableApps, usually involving editing the portable app's ".ini" file and inserting a batch file into the start-up process. But this one was much easier because Command Prompt Portable comes ready-made with it's own configuration file.

The standard *NIX command line tools are much more comprehensive than those provided with Windoze. If you're a UNIX or Linux geek, you probably already have discovered the GNUWin32 versions, which are Win32 ports of those wonderful *NIX tools.
