Chrome w/Xmarks

Submitted by Aqualung on September 20, 2010 - 8:20am

Am I the only one that's been getting an "Error clearing local bookmarks" error message when syncing bookmarks with Xmarks in Chrome? This started happening after updating to the latest Chrome (6.0.472.59).

DOSBox Command Line Parameters

Submitted by Totengeist on September 19, 2010 - 12:14am

Are command line parameters passed from the launcher to DOSBox by default? I think I read previously they were not, but I do know that -noconsole works.

I was trying to create shortcuts to games in DOSBox using the directions here, but they did not appear to work. Passing a custom .conf file to the launcher using the -conf switch doesn't work either

I know there is an "additional parameters" value in the DOSBoxPortable.ini file, but this isn't feasible for multiple shortcuts.

Is there any way to migrate Chrome extensions for the portable?

Submitted by taosk8r on September 16, 2010 - 7:59pm

I'm having massive stability issues with the 5x version of Chrome, and I'm hoping that an update will help, but I haven't been able to google up any kind of tool/solution that lets me take my extensions with me.

There are a couple that seem to work with installed Chrome, but I don't see any option for us Portable users. I really wish someone would just make a FEBE/CLEO type extension for Chrome, but in the meanwhile, does anyone know of anything?

[Fixed]Virtual Magnifying Glass Portable 3.4 is leaving files in Appdata

Today I updated to the latest version and discovered that it created a folder called Magnifier inside my %APPDATA% and if put the ini file into it.
The old version wasnt doing that.
They changed a lot from the last version so maybe they changed the way it handles its settings too but the nsi file is still the same.

I am on WIn XP SP3 limited account.

Is there anyone else who can observe this?

Besides that 2 rather cosmetic things:
the help.html still has the old version number and the readme.txt is only valid till 2007 (=not updated)

Google Chrome US-Int keyb problems

Submitted by JbRbV on September 10, 2010 - 9:45am

I tried the Google Chrome 6 release and found out that with my US International keyboard setting the special characters (or compose to get accented characters like é ) are not working. Strang enough ~ and ` are working, but ^ and " and ' not. When using the combination Chrome and Gmail this is a serious problem.
I tried Chrome 7 dev, but is has the same problem.
When using Chrome directly installed on Win7 this problem does not occur.

Is there a solution?

utorrent portable

Submitted by hamptito on September 9, 2010 - 7:32am

Hey there. I got some issues using utorrent portable, maybe you can help:

1) Renaming the Folder utorrentPortable is in, I'll get a bunch of ".torrent not found" up on next start - this should be no problem with a portable app?

2) I have to shutdown utorrent before I shutdown the PC, because Windows terminates utorrentportable.exe and so no changes utorrent made in this sessions are saved (new & deleted .torrents etc)

any solution? or an alternative REALLY portable torrent client?

regards

Chrome 6?

Submitted by nottRobin on September 6, 2010 - 6:46pm

Is anyone working on Chrome 6 portable? The main advantage in Chrome 6 that I think would be very useful in Chrome Portable is the ability to sync everything - so the browser is exactly the same as the one on my local computer. This is particularly useful for a portable app.

Of course other features like WebM video support, autofill, streamlined interface and increased speeds help.

Smile
Robin.
