CommandPromptPortable won't open to path on other drive

Submitted by Syolaar on August 9, 2010 - 4:01am

Hi all,
I'm tring to crate a portable "command prompt here" context menu entry using CommandPromptPortable & PortableFileAssociator, but for some reason CommandPromptPortable won't open to a drive other than its own.

Executing "j:\portableapps\commandpromptportable\commandpromptportable.exe j:\documents" opens the CLI to that folder, while "...commandpromptportable.exe c:\windows" opens the CLI to "j:\".

Also, executing "...commandpromptportable.exe %temp%" or other variables causes it to open and close immediately.

Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks

[Closed] gvimPortable “-f” option does not work

Submitted by mortgat on August 3, 2010 - 7:45am

gvim has a -f option at startup which prevents the GUI to fork.

Some applications, sometimes, create temporary files, run an editor and then when that task has finished, do something with the temporary file and delete it.

This is why gvimportable.exe should have that -f option working for it to be interfaceable with other portable applications.

Thank you!

Benoit

Google Chrome Portable oddities

Submitted by MFLesses on July 31, 2010 - 4:31pm

1. I noticed that history items are saved only locally (on my Windows XP computers)if I open Chrome Portable from a desktop URL shortcut but are all included on Chrome Portable if I open Chrome from my external drive. It suggests that the shortcut opens through Chrome on the computer rather than Portable. Is there a way around this?

2. Often, but not always, Chrome Portable will not open from desktop URL shortcuts at all.

TaskCoach - Bonjour warning for portable version makes no sense

Submitted by melpa on July 28, 2010 - 11:02am

When starting the portable version of TaskCoach 1.0.7 a warning is displayed that iPhone synchronisation is enabled but the computer does not have Bonjour service installed. Of course it does not have if this is not the computer used for the synchronisation. And it does not make sense to switch the iPhone synchronisation off every time the portable version is used on another computer than the one used for the synchronisation.

[Fixed] InfraRecorder Portable 0.50 Rev 3 loses settings

Submitted by Bruce Pascoe on July 27, 2010 - 9:47am

InfraRecorder 0.50 Rev 3 keeps losing its settings--after configuring it, closing it, and relaunching it, all its settings have been reset.

I tried tracking this down myself, but I couldn't fix it. However, I did find something interesting: Settings.xml is apparently being corrupted very badly in the process of being moved from Data\settings to App\InfraRecorder, resulting in this XML:

uTorrentPortable 2.0.3 Installation Fails -- The installer was unable to download uTorrent (ERROR: SendRequest Error)

uTorrentPortable 2.0.3 Installation Fails (Also, I tried 2.0.2 & it fails for the same reason)--

"The installer was unable to download uTorrent. The installation of the portable app will be incomplete without it. Please try installing again. (ERROR: SendRequest Error)"

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

One additional thing I noticed, If the installation fails, then the app will not be available to be used (because the installation had started deleting files in the portable directory in preparation for the new version...)
