Songbird problem

Submitted by morvael on August 25, 2009 - 3:14pm

Each time I change a title of a song which had polish diacritical marks to an ascii version, I get this info:

"Unable to manage your imported or updated items, please check the Media Management folder exists and is writable."

(but the title changes)

What does it mean? Do I loose anything?

GnuCash Problem

Submitted by gm319 on August 21, 2009 - 8:50am

I installed GnuCash Portable about 2 days ago on my USB drive. The first time I opened the program it was fine. Now, when I try to open it the first screen flashes on for about 2 seconds, disappears and then the program does not open. Can anyone help? (windows xp)

Atomic Tanks crashes on startup

Submitted by MichaelWH on August 21, 2009 - 2:06am

I've downloaded and installed Atomic Tanks on several machines now (two virtual, two real). It crashes immediately upon being started in all cases. I've run it from a USB stick or straight from the hard drive. Same effect in either case. I've redownloaded and even confirmed MD5 signatures (using Portable MD5Sum). No changes. I've also tried running the launcher directly (as well as the "atanks.exe" file in the App folder) from the command line to no avail.

Songbird Portable: moving folders & playlists

Now I know that some folks are talking that it sometimes breaks portability when swithcing drives, but I was wondering if my case is the same.

If I have the Songbird Portable on my External Harddrive, as well as on my USB, would there be a problem w/ copying the song folders and the playlist that it is related to on my ExternalHDD directly into the same folder area on my USB.

That should work fine right? Or would I have to do an import/export?

[Fixed] Songbird - missing rename of crash report folder

Submitted by Simeon on August 19, 2009 - 4:54pm

If I have Songbird installed locally, the portable version checks for crash reports and renames the folder to "Crash Reports-BackupBySongbirdPortable" (line 79).
The problem is that it gets left behind as it never renames it back to what it was on exit so it gets left behind.

I don't know how important these crash reports are and thus how serious this bug is.

Lightscreen 1.0 - Windows 98, No Go.

Submitted by dahlarbear on August 19, 2009 - 11:46am

I've been unable to get "Lightscreen 1.0" portable to run on Windows 98 Standard Edition (aka First Edition) machine. On PortableApps site, it's one of the compatible operating systems.

Get messages in dialog boxes. In the first box:

"G:\PortAppsPlatform\PortableApps\LightscreenPortable\App\Lightscreen\lightscreen.exe
A device attached to the system is not functioning."

and then in the "Error Starting Program" dialog box:

"The LIGHTSCREEN.EXE file is linked to missing export SHELL32.DLL:SHGetFolderPathW."

[Bugs] PeaZip Portable 2.6.3

Submitted by Bart.S on August 19, 2009 - 5:16am

Sorry to say that John, but that release makes me sad. I appreciate all your work and it's really cool that you've updated all official apps, but the quality is falling.
Let me quote some known bugs:

JTHThere are still a couple bugs, though. The one Bart mentioned about PROGRAMEXECUTABLE vs DEFAULTEXE. And the installer doesn't preserve the ACE plugin if the user has added it

Songbird - Changing Drive Letters Issue

Submitted by Jeremy Cox on August 18, 2009 - 4:21pm

Posted this in the news story for the release version, and was directed here:

After updating from the a Developer preivew release to the final Songbird Portable 1.2, moved my Music and songbird Portable directory from my external drive (U:) to my internal drive (X:). The relative paths have not changed (Music and SongbirdPortable) With the external drive unplugged, songbird can't see any of my music, as it is still looking at the external drive letter instead of the internal one. Clicking on a song that won't play and choosing show this file reveals that it is looking for the file on U.
