Command Prompt Portable - parameters

I'm trying to figure something out with the new Command Prompt Portable.

I used to be able to pass parameters to cmd.exe, such as "/c backup346" to call a batch file (with /c to close the window at the end).

I've looked at CommandPromptPortable.nsi, and I don't think it supports parameters.

Can anyone confirm this?

Symbian 60 v3

Submitted by beas on July 8, 2007 - 8:30am

Am not sure whether the portable apps software works on the Nokia N95 which uses the Symbian 60 v3 software but has does have a facility to run a Java application. (I think) If anyone can advise how this can be done would greatly appreciate it.

Portablizer cannot find Java

Submitted by SamK on July 6, 2007 - 7:12am

Actions taken before using Portablizer:
* Installed OpenOffice Portable to C:\PortableApps\OpenOfficePortable. Result = Open Office runs but as expected wizards cannot be used due to lack of Java.
* Installed Java (using default) to C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_01 Result = all files installed as expected with no error messages.
* PC rebooted. This was not requested or required by the installation but conducted just in case.

When using Portablizer
* Default location used = C:\PortableApps\CommonFiles\Java

Java Portablizer

Am I doing something wrong (having just the Java Runtime Environment installed should be sufficient - or is that already the "mistake"?) or could it be that the Java Portablizer is only running with an English OS?

Adding a shortcut to PA menu for ./xampp/htdocs folder

Hi there. I am greatly enjoying all of the portable apps from here. Having a transportable webserver is awesome for a developer constantly on the go. However, I find that I need to constantly access the ./xampp/htdocs folder to add/modify my content. Is there an easy way to create a shortcut to that location instead of having to go to Explore (in the PA menu) then navigate to that folder? Thank you for any help you might have!

Rearranging/cleaning up Portable Apps menu

Submitted by MTOLincoln on June 27, 2007 - 10:25pm

After installing the Portable Apps Menu and some additional applications along with it, I activated the Option to Refresh App Icons. Icons for these additional apps were added to the menu as expected, but also a number of entries I did not want on the menu, such as a number of uninstall icons, config programs, etc. So I now have a very long menu listing with many unwanted entries and I can't figure out a way to get rid of them, other than by deleting all the ancillary utilities. Is there some way one can simply remove entries from the menu?

Palm Desktop

Submitted by cameronhaag on June 21, 2007 - 8:30pm

Hi!

Wondering if Palm Desktop can be used with portable apps. I'd love to be able to take my Palm stuff and use it at work, but the IT guys won't let me install it on the work computers as it's not company equipment. I have a Treo 650 I'd like to use for scheduling etc both at work and at home.

Thanks for any advice!

NagaSkaki - Can't see subfolders when run from menu

Submitted by wraythosu on June 20, 2007 - 9:02pm

I found this chess program that will run from my Drive if I execute the .exe by browsing to it's folder, but when I execute it from the PortableApps menu, it doesn't see the images folders that are at: "x:\PortableApps\NagaSkaki_4.00\images" from the error message I get, it's looking for the images file in the absolute folder of "x:\\images\" so I copied the images folder to the root of my drive and the program worked. So from this I must surmise that when PortableApps menu executes the file, it does so with a working directory as the root of the drive.
