Windows 7

Submitted by x10guy on February 20, 2011 - 1:57pm

I know that there are programs you have made for this inquiry but i find this more suitable. What if instead of us having to click the exe program every time we log on to our computers, you guys actually make a installable program that will make a task in the scheduled tasks list so that when we log on or when our computers start up we don't have to do anything besides insert the drive?

Portable Apps and update

Submitted by tobiasBora on February 19, 2011 - 10:39am

Hello,
First, excuse me if I make spelling mistakes. (I'm French and I don't speak very well English).

This is my question : When an Apps is update on Partable Apps, is she automaticaly update on our platform ? If not, how can we know when an Apps is update ? I must check every Apps manualy ? And if this fonction isn't present, it will be present on the next version ?

Thanks.

Tobias Bora

And if I make spelling mistakes, tell me !

MalwareBytes block inetc.dll

Submitted by sm6gqw on February 19, 2011 - 9:11am

I have to click on Ignore every time I search for program update (Manage apps>check for updates). inetc.dll is on different path in document and setting every time. Typical:
C:\Documents and Settings\...\Temp\nsk6D.tmp\inetc.dll Trojan.Agent
C:\Documents and Settings\...\Temp\nsv70.tmp\inetc.dll Trojan.Agent

Because new path every time I can not set file in ignore list.
Why not use same path every time in portableapps setup directory?

Does QEMU GUI makes any difference?

Submitted by darkgame on February 19, 2011 - 3:36am

I wanted to bring my online games along with my thumbdrive, like MapleStory. I know they cannot be portablized due to admin power so I've found QEMU Manager, a GUI for QEMU.
The installation of a stripped down windows xp (microxp, yes, i know its illegail but many users use it) took about 30minutes in QEMU Manager while a real computer takes 5minutes.
It is still laggy when i download firefox, like the whole computer is dying. (KQEMU is not activated)

Dead/Outdated Software Available on Applications Page

Submitted by acocaracha on February 18, 2011 - 2:05pm

I was noticing some bad behavior with the WinWget program available from the main applications page (https://portableapps.com/apps). After looking at the sourceforge website, it was immediately obvious that no one has been developing the software for the past 5 years. One of the bugs was the same problem I was having and it has been open for a year and a half.

Reg file/s compare & and output diff

Submitted by morphonius821 on February 16, 2011 - 7:37pm

HI,
Just wondering if anyone knows of a freeware registry editor and app that can:
(other than editing .reg files also:
compare 2 .reg files with options to:
Select the differences in either file and output a selection to a new .reg file.
(I.e in such a way that these differences could be then easily inserted into the system registry by way of this new .reg file)

P.S i have just browsed the web and installed about 10 reg apps and the ones that look promising are either too complicated, don't install or require you to purchase them.

Wondering about SpyDLLRemover

Submitted by carterrk on February 16, 2011 - 5:24am

I saw SpyDLLRemover on the list of apps, and wanted to find out more about it. Went to the https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/spydllremover_portable page, then tried the "Learn more about SpyDLLRemover" link, which gave me a 404 error.

Followed the "Publisher" link to http://rootkitanalytics.com/ and found this on their homepage:

"StreamArmor and SpyDLLRemover are NOT associated with RootkitAnalytics by any means. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we had to let go of the corresponding volunteer and remove all his contributions."
