Password to protect PortableApps

Submitted by Dirty Harry on April 21, 2009 - 11:44am

Hello,

I'm using PortableApps for a while and the more I use it the more I like it !
But there is one little detail that makes me quite afraid.

If I lose my USB key, all my documents can be taken by anyone.

So here is my question : is it possible to protect the access to the device with PortableApps on it with a password ?
I've been looking for a solution on this website and on the internet but I can not find anyhting about that request...

OBEX Commander

I asked the developer of OBEX commander for a portable version, this was his reply:

Thank you for using OBEX Commander.
Please use version 2.0 beta if you want to use it as portable application.
Install OBEX Commander as usual, then copy OBEX Commander folder to PortableApps folder of your USB drive.

+\PortableApps\
+\OBEX Commander\ +\PortableAppsMenu\ Commander icon will be available in menu.

After some research in the forums and in the rest of the internet. I couldn't find any specific information about this topic. So I'm trying to get some help from the community's know-how.

The point is:
I'm trying to develop a portable application to, lets say ,store information in a secure way in the pen drive, To be more simple to understand i will describe it using images as the information example.

I do not know if this is possible but it would be nice to be able to download portable apps in a custom pack. For example, I could view the list of available portable apps and select specific apps to add to a download basket that I can then download. The download will contain a ZIP archive with the installers for the selective apps.

[link removed by moderator JTH. the linked site violates the GPL by not providing source downloads and in the past leeched bandwidth from us by hotlinking images and should not be linked from here.] has this feature and I like it.

Forums not behaving in time

Submitted by reepicheep on April 16, 2009 - 8:07am

All morning I've been experiencing an issue with the tracker page. New posts are being listed but a few are stuck as having a "Last post" of "0 secs ago". This persists for minutes and sometimes hours across a refresh/reload. The replies remain marked as new despite my having viewed them before. Something broken on the server perhaps?
