Transmission-Qt portability

Submitted by nixiejames on July 29, 2016 - 3:44am

not sure where to post stuff like this so please correct me asap.

so i was using the Everything app from voidtools to check if there are leftovers from my apps whenever i exit them.
i found one leftover from the Transmission-Qt app in the C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local directory.
the folder name was transmission.

that's it, pretty much.

btw, i was wondering when the Everything app was going to move out of Dev Test since i love the app so much and i would like it to be in paf.

DVD Video Burning software

Submitted by SGB74 on July 28, 2016 - 10:13pm

Hello all,

I wanted to know if any of the supplied apps hosted here on portableapps.com offer the ability to burn a mp4 file onto a DVD video disc. To be more specific, I recorded a church service for someone last week, and it was requested of me to be able to burn it to a playable DVD which can be watched on a DVD player. Is there anything I can use that will allow this while using the mp4 format?

Dropped VirusTotal recommendation, MetaDefender recommended instead

We no longer recommend VirusTotal for developers to scan new releases to check for antivirus engine alerts and end users to double-check possible false positives in their installed antivirus engine. This decision is due to poor availability of VirusTotal's engine (it was basically inaccessible for the last 3 days), slow performance of scans likely due to overloading of their servers, and poor quality of the scan results due to inclusion of low-quality antivirus engines and poor settings or beta definitions of some other engines.

found portable apps a while ago and considered using them instead of buying a new computer if I could get a good NLE with it.

the NLE's listed were TEncode and Virtual Dub, both of which are not really to my liking, though Virtual Dub can be useful if you take the time to figure it out, I'm aware. anyway, I went the route of the cheapest computer I could find that would fit my needs

Some on-screen keyboards DO protect against software keyloggers.

I disagree with the "Keylogger Note" for the On-Screen Keyboard Portable (https://portableapps.com/apps/accessibility/on-screen_keyboard_portable), which says: "While on-screen keyboards offer protection against hardware keyloggers, they do not offer protection against software keyloggers (which are far more common). They are primarily intended as an accessibility tool or for alternate means of text entry (pen-based computing, etc)."
