I encounter following problem: when I use hardware encrypted stick like carbide on w10, after some time, the stick is switched off, no communication any more. Software which was loeaded before remains hnging . Then I have to start the stick again, enter the password etc.
However this seems to be not healthy for the filesystem on the stick, I am naturally getting then warnings as and need to run chkdisk on that .

From w7 I was used to keep the stick all time active when connected to computer.

i see there is a skype portable. when downloading, it starts with a 1mb-ish file. i didn't even bother when i saw that. that bit tells me, it's going to try and first use a web installer (the 1mb file) and then, maybe, get the "proper" exe. that's not really how it works for 99% of the apps here so.. yeah..

i'm already weary that there is a portable skype since i doubt microsoft wants that and is actually involved. i mean why would they? with the full windows version, they get to install drivers/hooks and whatever they want really (especially since they created the o/s).

my version 98 has irreplaceable software on it
any chance of a portable apps for an old version 98?

I've a need to support some older firmware out on some industrial PCs. Some of these don't work so well with all versions of Java and we end up having to have seperate PCs each with its own version installed. Sometimes though these get updated by mistake and its a bit of a mess, so I wanted to see if portableapps could help. I suspect this is something thats already been achieved here but I can't find anything in a search of the forums.

Hi, I'm getting "The downloaded copy of Google Chrome (Stable) is not valid and cannot be installed." for Chrome 41 and 42. Same with mirror sites.

I've pulled back on what FF can do over the last year or so and noticed others doing so to, sometimes baffled as I have been about why a version change suddenly meant a cliff edge fall in performance when the user hadn't done anything they were aware of.

I loved groups, guess what, JTH said they might be affecting performance so I got rid of them, altogether.

I renamed my folder and started again.

Guess what?

FF was slow within a day.

I also tried FF normal, same thing.

I have been found unpleasant because I have used words that foolish people consider swearwords, I have mentioned body parts of men and women, I consider them ordinary, wikipedia knows about them, only very narrow minded people consider them rude.

What I have *not* done is present adverts to people that are illegal to posses.

JTH, and everyone, do you have any idea where the difference rates in legal terms?

If I show you an illegal image I expect to be punished, possibly to go to jail.

Is it possible to change the location of the main pictures, music and videos folders. I would like them in the root folder beside the documents folder because when i'm creating subfolders in the documents folder they are scattered throughout the directory.

i'm after a portable app to catalog some tv series,but i want to customize it so i can add custom fields like the offiial website and when its back on air etc,ive seen a few tv databases but they only allow 2 custom fields and i'm after a lot more,thanx in advance
