Avira in conjunction with autorun.inf

When I start my Platform, I always get an "access denied"-message from the platform, presumably because Avira blocks the Platform from checking the autorun.inf integrity.

Is there any way around that?

I know the platform wants to check the integrity and I like the feature, but its a bit cumbersome nevertheless to click the message away every time I start the Platform.

Comodo Dragon with Silverlight (Portable for Windows)

Submitted by bifurcatedpanda... on December 18, 2012 - 6:42pm

- Install Comodo Dragon with the portable setting checked.
- Install Silverlight Plugin, e.g. when prompted by an attempt to Watch Instantly on Netflix.
- Copy Silverlight files (omitting all localization files [if you wish] and all *.exe and *.ni.dll files) to any_new_folder in Dragon's root directory.
- Uninstall Silverlight.
- Create a shortcut to launch Dragon and append " --load-plugin=./any_new_folder/npctrl.dll" (w/o quotes) to the shortcut's Target field in the Properties dialog under the Shortcut tab.

[Fixed] Skype MS Live and Facebook login doesn't work on PC without Skype locally installed

Submitted by Fiskars on December 17, 2012 - 5:26pm

Does not allow logging in with an existant Microsoft Live account,
cause that login option is nowhere to be seen, unlike on the installer version

[Mod JTH change: Works on PCs with Skype locally installed. Changed subject and bug text to reflect.]

Apps can't write on other file systems

Some time ago i asked to Mediafour if this was a MacDrive problem, and it seems to be like that. Here is the link: http://forums.mediafour.com/forums/macdrive-9-pro-1/cant-install-extensi...

The administrator says that some executables need elevated permissions to run, and the only way to get them is using a Windows file system.

I also tried installing the platform on another more popular File System, so i used EXT4. The problem persist.

feature suggestion

Submitted by stevecassidy on December 12, 2012 - 7:13am

When clocking on apps->get more apps
from the menu and then clicking on one of the options, I get a dialog box stating what apps I do not have.

Some of these apps I have no intention of ever installing as they are older versions of firefox and thunderbird.

Could we please have an option of hiding some of the new apps so they are not shown on the list and hence not shown to me every time I ask if there are new applications available.

Thanks

Steve

Game/application launcher question

Submitted by Hansj on December 10, 2012 - 5:22am

3 main problems with having a game on portable device:

  • Gameplay is saved on C drive in some dark location
  • The game requires data reckoned in the registry to run
  • The game requires .Net, directX 9.0c or physX which not all public PCs have preinstalled

These problems can usually be fixed manually:
SavedGames folder can be redirected with a symbolic link to your portable device, so you take them with you.
