Portable applications for http transfers to web site.

Submitted by thelning on April 14, 2008 - 8:53am

I know the first thing you get blind on is your eyes, so I might have missed something on the portable applications web site. But is there a portable application for updating and transferring files for a web site that you have. I noticed that FilZilla Portable did not accept http transfers.
Would very much appreciate some help.
Many thanks
Tony

When is PortableApps.com Platform 1.5 going to be released. I have heard no official word except "next week". From what I hear John is a busy man......if he is so busy then why not allow the platform team take it over. The latest update was last month and he said he needed to put some finishing touches on it. Where is at?

Installer Switch

I was thinking, in the case of the updater, it would be easier for the installers to just extract to the PortableApps Directory with a switch, so that the user doesn't end up with all these installers in front of him. Maybe except the FireFox Installer which would just displays the EULA quickly. It also helps those people that love zips for some strange reason :P. Questions?

update app feature?

Submitted by WhiteKenny on April 10, 2008 - 12:41pm

hey, i'm not sure if this is already something thats being worked on or not, but i was wondering if you have any plans to implement any kind of update feature into the portableapps menu that will search for newer versions of the installed apps? maybe something like how Firefox prompts when opening if there is a newer version of an extension and prompts you to install the update...

Any news on CAFE or CONVEY development

Submitted by SOuimet on April 10, 2008 - 12:27pm

Are C.A.F.E. and Convey Portable still in development?

I love those programs and use them a lot, but I need a couple of more features. I tried to find recent news about both programs, without luck.

I've recoded a bit of both for my own use, but if they aren't developped anymore, maybe I could give a shot at continuing these apps.

New Linux User

I have very limited experience with Linux and all of the jargon that is used with it just confuses me. I have used Ubuntu before but it was off of a Live CD. What I want to do is run a version of Linux off of my USB thumb drive. I have no idea where to get any programs for the OS, nor do I know which programs are good/bad. Can anyone recommend a particular Linux for me? Has to be pretty easy to use and whatnot and good for a beginner like me. Thanks.
