OS?

Submitted by berky93 on February 7, 2008 - 6:36pm

I really like the mac-on-stick portable mac app. its really great to have that other computer to put programs and files in and be able to completely customize. plus I can take it with me which is another plus.

but that is a very limited thing. its a very old version of mac operating system that three arent too many useful things for it. but there are other operating systems.

are there any linux or windows (95,98,2000,xp, whatever) emulators that function like thae mac one. EG: it runs in a window or fullscreen instead of having to boot the computer with the flash drive

splash screens

(First off, I can well imagine this has been asked before, still I couldn't find any thread on it. Perhaps I just haven't been looking hard enough. If so, advance apologies to the regulars round here.)

Is there a way to turn off the PortableApps splash screens?

Having trouble with PA restore utility

Submitted by zeemon on February 7, 2008 - 11:48am

Hi all,

First let me say - love portable apps - big time.

TB lost all my settings and emails yesterday, although lightning was intact. Got lost in the profile process - moved on to format/restore. Running PA Restore, no files get copied - weird. I've seldom had success with the PA restore program.

** Just got it restored to 2-3-08 sweet. Only way I got it to work was to extract files from backup and copy to thumb drive. **

Make certain applications recognizeable by portable apps menu

I'm not quite sure where to post this so I will try here first.

I am basically trying to find out whether or not you can add stand-alone programs like .exe programs that can be used soely on a USB that are not available on PortableApps.com and have the Portable Apps Menu display it?

For example...

DVD Shrink

Submitted by Devo on February 6, 2008 - 1:03pm

I found this program which will take a dvd and shrink it to fit on a writable dvd for backup purposes. I was looking at the website (http://www.dvdshrink.org/what_en.php) and was able to determine that it is freeware, but it is not open source. I think this is a great program, but was wondering if there were any portable, open source alternatives?
