PortableApps.com Platform

Every time I launch PAP it opens up (ignoring the StartMinimized=True setting) and I see a progress bar inside the menu -- it seems to be doing a full icon cache refresh or app indexing. This initiation takes about 3 minutes with 283 apps installed. I know my Class 4 USB stick is partly to blame for the slow speed, but is there any way to configure it so that it stops doing whatever it's doing on startup?

I'm installing PAP for the first time and it has not been a smooth process. I first checked off 283 apps to download, and it took many hours to download everything. However, after installing about 150 apps, the application started to repeatedly display these two error alerts:

(1) "Access violation at address 00404F47 in module 'PortableAppsPlatform.exe'. Write of address"

(2) "Stack overflow."

I use Portable apps via Dropbox on home & work computer. Works great EXCEPT that whenever I start PA on the "other" computer - I get a warning about the autorun configuration having been changed and if I didn't make then change I need to run an AV scan... and then PA takes AGES to load. If I close down PA and re-open again on the same machine - it starts quickly. I swap machines, get the warning again and the delay

Q: How can I configure PA platform to NOT do the unnecessary check on startup?

I am new to this program. When I try to download any apps, I get the following error: "Download error: Redirection (301) on file". I can not download any of the apps. I get the same error every time.

I've got a few apps set up to auto-start when I run PortableApps, and I'd like them to automatically stop when I stop PA or hit its eject button.

I found a few threads here, but they all seem to lead to defunct apps like AutoClose (https://portableapps.com/node/20900), so there doesn't seem to be anything active any more. Is there a way to do this? Or something in the works?

Will it be possible to create a standalone app for portability of fonts?
As I only use this function but do not actually rely on the PortableApp Platform.

My flash drive has all of the (your) portableapps installed on it that I need + photos / music / videos / documents.

The other thing that I have MASSES of are "downloads" -> stuff to install on PCs -> AV / Firewalls / service packs / openoffice / browsers...

I'd REALLY like a "Downloads" button on the PA menu, rather than "Documents" -> then "Downloads" in Explorer - I'm THAT lazy!!!

Is there a way to create your own folder links already in the PA menu?

First post and possible duplicate question.

I want to install Portable Apps on a 4tb External HDD - is that recommended (as opposed to a Thumb Drive)?

Two reasons: 1) I want access to a media player that handles FLAC files natively, and 2) would like the application and media files on ONE drive.

If possible to do this, are there any special considerations or install recommendations?

I have got a question about ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES:

Is it possible to add an environment variable to an (existing) portable app using something as an INI file.

I need to setup such a variable to enable the Pidgin(Portable) to work with the sipe plugin (so it can work with Lync/OCS)!

I am running AsteriskWin32 server on Windows 7 which come with WillVoice PBX MANAGER Free Edition.

I am trying to configure QuteCom Portable Softphone. It logs in , but It shows an QuteCom error massage saying 'can't place a call, not connected.

For the SIP Domain/Realm I am using the local IP address of my computer.
Same IP on the advanced and for the port is 5060

I want to make calls to another PC. I DO NOT WANT TO SIGN TO A SERVICE PROVIDER.
