Feature Request -- Don't Waste Our Time with This Odd Behaviour... ;)

Submitted by Biffo on February 7, 2013 - 1:57pm

I think this is a feature modification or, arguably, a bug report, really.

When attempting the download of a bunch of apps, one of which throws an error, the downloader stops and awaits input. There's only one form of input that's possible, which is the inevitable acceptance of failure of that attempt to download that app.

Is it necessary to await this perfunctory input before proceeding? I think a lot of people might, like me, want to specify the apps to download, go (especially if they're on a slow-ish like, like me) for dinner and come back to find most of the apps have arrived.

File type associations lost on Win 7/ Win 8

I have problem that assigning i.e. .odt extension to OpenOfficePortable will work but then it gets sometimes lost. This behaviour is only on newer Versions (Win7/8). XP was working OK. Is it possible that since Win7 some "intelligence" checks if the drive where OpenOfficPortable is stored is available and - if not (like an USB drive) resets the file-type bindings??

Very strange and I can't google anything about it.

Anyone same experience?

tablet version of PA?

Submitted by evafan on January 27, 2013 - 5:49am

I was wondering has there been any thought given to making a full screen version of portable apps theme so it can be used on devices like a tablet pc. Even with scrolling screens and other gestures. It would be so cool and sure to get some more attention to PA

Beware of Kelihos-2?

Submitted by gudenov on January 23, 2013 - 10:45pm

I recently noticed some strangeness with the flash drives I use solely at my local library. It was fairly easy to research the reasons for the suddenly-appearing sony.exe file and the .lnk folders at the root level right there along with all the other portableapps folders and exec's, and I've notified them that it looks like their computers are likely infected with the second Kelihos exploit. Fortunately the only other computers they are used with are my Macs so I don't believe there's any serious consequences, but I wanted to at least mention it as a heads-up I guess.
