invalid float operation

Submitted by Mover on July 3, 2013 - 8:50am

Hi,

My university provides us with a very large (unlimited?) network drive to store our data. When running the PA platform from this drive, I get an 'invalid float operation' error. I know this error is listed as an unconfirmed bug. Therefore I wanted to confirm it as this bug seems to have been around for a long time.

Cheers.

Updating requires interrogation

Submitted by RockinRobbins on June 16, 2013 - 9:52am

I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up before. I was updating apps. I knew it would take awhile so I started the update of twelve or so apps from the update option in the Portable Apps Platform menu.

Have you ever used Ninite? You check a dozen apps and everything installs in the background and a while later it tells you it's done? Portable Apps doesn't work like that. Every single program interrogates you. Where do you want to install? Do you agree to the terms? What is your dog's maiden name?

some nice to have features

There is a "fork" of the portable apps platform called geek.menu (on sourceforge). I used it for some time now, but it is not so actively developted like here.

but

It has some features really nice to have.

1. simple eject command (if I want a automatic incremental backup of the dokuments e.g.)
2. integration of TrueCrypt (with seperate behavior on "unknown" computers)
- automount TC volume
- able to show owner info
- run different menus

other features are already integrated but differently.

Saving of PA programs paf.exe files

Submitted by sweetnuttin on June 5, 2013 - 11:10pm

Hi all,
Quick question please,

Will the new version of PA installer allow the saving of the paf.exe files to another folder of users choice?

So when you checked for updates and any were found, it would give you the option to save to a folder of your choice the ...paf.exe file.

This would be a benefit to have the 'source' paf.exe file saved so if you wanted to install on more than one pc or drive, you only had to download once.

thank you very much!

Sue
