sugg: Exit started apps on eject/exit

Submitted by thany on February 26, 2013 - 5:55am

This must have been requested before, but given the nature of the apps, this is more neccesary than one might think. Currently, getting all my apps to exit themselves is a nuisance. Every app has to be exited, and worse than that, I have to exit some apps in a specific order (more on that later).

I say if a menu can start apps, it can exit them. And so can Windows, but since I don't shutdown my pc when I leave it (I use hibernation) nothing is closed by Windows automatically.

Updater closes abrubtly as progress window appears but reports success

Submitted by marcon on February 25, 2013 - 4:50am

Hi,

after selecting "update" and the updater progress window briefly appears, my PortableApps updater closes itself abrubtly and reports the usual dialog that all apps have been updated. However, no such update has taken place and, when I run the updater again, it correctly shows the same updates available as before. The updates have not been applied, as the applications are not up to date, e.g. FirefoxPortable 18.

I have updated from PortableApps.com version 11 to 12b2 without change.

Including Apps from additional PortableApps Folders

Submitted by kristo on February 21, 2013 - 5:55am

I'm looking for a way to make the Platform have more than one folder to look for PortableApps.

Example: One PortableApps Folder is on drive C: and another Folder on the USB stick.

Having the PortableApps menu loaded permenently it would be nice if the menu could recognize the stick and add the Links from the menu there.

Menu on write-protected SD Card

Submitted by NiveusLuna on February 15, 2013 - 1:03pm

I have an SD card that I want to use for cleaning up other computers. Like most SD cards, it has a read-only / write-protected switch.

When I start the portableapps.com menu when it's write-protected, most things work fine until I try to exit the menu. Then I get errors about "unable to write to \PortableApps\portableapps.com\data\portableappsmenu.ini". The errors don't stop, and it seems no matter how many times I click "OK" or hit the close button, the program never realizes that it can't write to the drive.

Is there some configuration option I need to set here?

Feature Request: Change the route of the default folders (Music, Pictures, Videos...)

Submitted by l0rdraiden on February 14, 2013 - 2:08pm

I would like to be able to change the route of the default folders that comes with portableapps.

Right now "Pictures" "Music" and "Videos" are inside "Documents" folder, and they can't be moved or rename because them the link from the interface will not work.
It would be nice to be able to change the default route, or even better link to buttons to any folder you want and also be able to rename them.

Thanks

Start launcher stopped working

Submitted by jojothehobo on February 13, 2013 - 8:02pm

Hi : I can no longer launch the portable apps platform. The launcher , by which I mean the "start portable apps.com" icon, a 145kb .exe file, for the portable apps platform no longer works. It gives me the usual gui shape but all the applications icons are replaced with plain text "lblportable app 0x".
I get an error message that says "Cannot open file "D:\Portable apps platform\PortableApps\PortableApps.com\App\Graphics\MenuButtons\button_close_normal.png". The system cannot find the file specified".
