.NET Support

Any updates on (unofficial) .NET support? Windows 7 seems to be spreading somewhat, depending on where you are, I suppose. (I'm at a university.)

Another couple clarifying questions:
How does .NET differ from Java for portablizing applications? Aren't there a few portable apps like FirefoxPortable that have to use the host's JVM, or am I totally off? Is the only difference for these applications that the JVM is more widespread on XP than .NET? Does this mean that .NET applications could be supported officially when XP becomes less dominant?

Suggestion: Autostart profiles

Submitted by mgutt on September 1, 2011 - 5:55am

Hi,

I wish to have different Autostart profiles. At home all my standard application should start after the platform starts (email, browser, etc.). But if I connect to a foreign pc I don't want to start all applications.

Maybe its possible to define profiles in combination to the hardware id, windows username or similar.

Marc

Adding apps to the PortableApps.com platform

Submitted by djaef on September 1, 2011 - 3:06am

Hi
I added a couple of apps to my drive (Chrome and Filezilla) and then ran into trouble updating them (well Chrome anyway, I haven't tried with the other one.)

So I read up a bit and it seemed to me that if I had the PortableApps platform installed, I could update the apps through that.

So I installed the PortableApps platform, and now I can't figure out to add the existing two apps to the Menu of the platform... I don't want to do a clean install as I've customised the browser extensively with plugins etc...

Thanks for any help.

Agregar varios programas

Submitted by bichitamgb on August 25, 2011 - 12:15pm

Amigos,
Gabriela.

List of non-PA apps installed?

Submitted by shookmon on August 24, 2011 - 3:00pm

This might not be the right place for this, but...

I've been using PA for several years and have accumulated quite a hodge-podge of portable software on my stick. Some current PA, some really old PA that doesn't show up on the website anymore, and a few non-PA that I just installed alongside so they show up in PAM.

I want to clean house and get rid of old 'stuff' or upgrade it. I'd really like to see if any of the non-PA or off list old PA apps have a new PA version. I don't see an easy way to get PAM to tell me what it found on the stick but can't find a current entry to update to.

PortableApps menu for blind users

Submitted by bdorer on August 23, 2011 - 3:51pm

First of all, I want to say that the updater, the options dialog and so on are quit accessible to blind users.

Would it be possible to modify the portableApps menu so screenreaders can read the Dialog and programm names?
the Menus are accessible allready.

If you need more help I'll contact you with the developers of NVDA. An opensource screenreader for windows.

Thanks
Bernd Dorer

PA.c Platform Updater vs. Ninite

Just wondering, is there a good reason the updater can't/doesn't work like Ninite? A lot of geeks know about Ninite now, and I think it's reasonable to expect that level of performance from a batch installer, so when the individual installers come up, one at a time... I mean, especially with big stuff like LibreOffice, you really should be able to set it, forget it, and come back to it being done.

Right?
