Adding non-PAF apps

Submitted by obscenum on July 30, 2011 - 3:09am

Hi!

Sorry about this post, I must be stupid! Smile

I am trying to add some portable apps to the 2.0 PR2.1 menu but they don't show.
I've installed the menu to x:\test, the directory then contains the following directories and files:

Documents (dir)
PortableApps (dir)
Autorun.inf
Start.exe

Portable Application Assosiation

Submitted by bungeshea on July 30, 2011 - 12:50am

[illegal site] have done it, so I thought it would be good for PortableApps too.

Basicly, what I would like is a program/feature of the PortableApps Platform that overwrites the default applications that open by clicking on a file with a certain file extension. It should also run when PortableApps Platform starts and exit when PortableApps Platform closes. Also, you should be able to moderfy what app extensions open with which program.

ex: HTML and URL files open with Mozilla Firefox Portable, TXT, LOG, INI, PHP etc open with Notepad++Portable

Just an idea.

Update On Platform Startup appears not to be working

Submitted by lewisbd on July 29, 2011 - 12:50pm

I'm running Version 2.0 Pre-Release 2.1 of the Platform on a Toshiba NB205 netbook running Windows XP.

Under Advanced Options I checked the box to "Check for Updates... On Platform Start-up."

I exited the Platform then started it again.

The Platform loads, then minimizes to the System Tray.

Although I know (from checking manually) that no updates are available, nothing indicates that the application has checked for updates.

Whatever is happening, the messages that appear when I manually click "Manage Apps" | "Check for Updates" do not appear with this Options setting.

[Fixed] PA Updater shows on XP Home SP3 with no network connection

Submitted by RaggieSoft on July 28, 2011 - 10:52pm

I have an older XP Home SP3 laptop that I keep around (only 256 mb of RAM) simply so I have something I can do my work on without being powerful enough to run games.

Anyhow, when I ran PA menu 2.0 PR-2, the Updater comes up saying I have zero apps with updates available.
