Menu space saved for more apps

I noticed the other day that when I added a new Beta of Firefox my menuspace on the portableapps launcher had ran out and some was displayed on page 2 (the arrow on the bottom) which works and the interface looks really nice and minimalistic (which I love) which makes it abit awkward to use.

Here is what it looked like

TrueCrypt + Drive Partition = PortableApps Securtity

Submitted by RegLinUsr on February 25, 2011 - 10:58pm

The topic; "Please Add Password Protection to PortableApps", seems to crop up time and
time again. IMO, this is a truly unnecessary feature request since there is a FOSS program
that is specific to this type of functionality and does it very well.

TrueCrypt [http://www.truecrypt.org/] can be used in portability mode and; as such, is well
suited for just such a task.

I use it in conjunction with a partitioned portable hard drive. I use a 160GB USB portable
hard drive for my PortableApps home; of which, I've created a 5GB* unencrypted partition for

Time for some new PA menu themes!

Hiya all. It's been a while and I'm on a new account but enought about excuses. It's time for some new PortableApps Menu skins. 2.0 beta 5 is out now so we all have some familliarity with it so I encourge everyone to submit their own skins as well. I'll get the ball started with Hazardous.

What is the point of using the launcher with apps that are portable already?

I started using PortableApps some time around 2007 I think, but I never really used USB flash drives that much until relatively recently (for work). Now that I have rediscovered PA, I have realised that they can also be used with my synced folder, which I use for all my other portable apps, command line programs, shells, scripts, etc. So I have found just how incredibly useful PortableApps portable apps are.

I have not started making any of my own portable apps, but I am going to start doing so.

Resizing Portable Apps Menu

Submitted by Ahkaine on February 16, 2011 - 9:52am

Search turned up a 3 year old thread, so I thought I'd ask it again:

Is there any way to resize the Portable Apps Menu?

Currently, it displays 20 apps and the folders and options on the side. I would love to be able to squish it down to about 14 apps (which would leave the folder side untouched) and maybe make it a little more narrow.

Can this be accomplished by any edits?

I'm currently running both the stable 1.6.1.0 platform and Beta 5, alternately, depending on my mood.

Thanks for all the hard work you guys do.

File association engine / startup options

A key issue with portable apps is of course that file associations are in-fact registry entries on your PC which call up the relevant apps....
i.e what use is winzip portable (only to illustrate the point) if your zip file comes up as a default blank icon and when you click on it nothing happens as there is no program installed on your OS to handle it (only a portable one) and thus nothing indicating this in the registry, even when you have the Portable App Platform running!
