Have Platform appear in window list

Submitted by plethora on April 24, 2011 - 11:03pm

Please have the menu appear in ALT + TAB as a regular "app" next update, it would be appreciated because I am using it a lot now and I'm sick of having to go to the notification area all of the time.

Cheers anyway and good (luck) working on the next development phase

Launcher

Submitted by theis.ce on April 24, 2011 - 9:06pm

I've searched quite a bit, and can't find a start-to-finish tutorial for the launcher. I understand that it's supposed to be simple, but I guess I just don't get it. What am I supposed to be pointing it at? Here's an example. I use Treedbnotes quite a bit, and like the portable version. Now in the interest of full disclosure, I currently use [Illegal platform that has stolen PortableApps.com code, please don't mention it again - mod JTH], but have never been able to get it to work in Wine with Linux. So I plan on switching to 2.0 when it comes out hopefully next week.

Useful Innovations from an outdated source

Years ago, an open-source fork of the PA.c platform showed up. It was called Geek.Menu and held several advantages over the original platform. It included a search bar in the bottom corner, with compatibility with Google, Google Images, Google Maps, and Wikipedia. It did not discriminate between portable apps and packaged executables; if it saw an executable, it listed it as an icon on the menu, with the included option to remove the icon. The menu even allowed users to organize their apps into personalized folders, a very appealing utility. It could also autorun apps upon starting.

[Closed] Transparent corners in default themes are pink

Submitted by depp.jones on April 20, 2011 - 4:17pm

As in the title, the corners - normally supposed to be transparent - stay pink (R:255 G:0 B:255). That happens only with the included themes. The Windows7 Example theme from the Beta (4) Topic does not have this issue. Both background images use the same color for transparency (Full Magenta) but the default one appears to use png transparency (for chrome?).
Do they use the same theming engine? The custom theme seems not to be affectable by chrome options, so maybe that is the cause.

My enviroment: XP 32 SP3 Admin, classic theme, Platform 2.0 Beta 5.

Customizable Themes for Platform?

Submitted by GrahamG on April 15, 2011 - 3:28am

Just curious to know if the platform themes are customizable? If not, are there any plans to make them so? Not sure if it's just old age, but most of the themes on PA 2.0 beta 5 seem pretty dark to me.

The application text descriptions are pretty clear, but the options down the right hand side of the platform menu are quite dark. Any chance these could be changed with a user option?

Thanks.

Final Countdown to 2.0 yet??

Submitted by robertltux on April 14, 2011 - 2:47pm

Just wondering if we are confirmed to be getting 2.0 launched in the next few days.

I should be able to use the normal update function to upgrade the platform correct??

as a side issue is there a list of the various switches in the ini file somewhere??
(updated for any new switches in 2.0)

Runs slow and freezes

Submitted by tibbi64 on April 13, 2011 - 7:11pm

Mine runs slow and freezes a lot. I think its b/c the usb ports on the front of this computer are lose. The ports on back of machine are being used. I ordered a hub so we won't have to use those ports on front anymore. The idiot that used to work here would rest his foot on the flash drive plugged in.
