Windows 7 jumplist

Submitted by temp4746 on February 11, 2010 - 11:38am

You added an icon in the taskbar for Windows 7 but what about a jumplist?
It's contents can be what you have in the right click menu for the tray icon. (Minus the close command, since Windows has it's own already in that menu)

It will be quite useful.

EDIT: BTW if you do decide to implment it, Windows should store the jumplists for applications somewhere so if PortableApps.com Platform had a jumplist it might leave traces there whether it is plausible to remove it or not I'm not sure about so thats up to you to figure out :P.

Stuck on 'Generating Installer Code' | [Also] Error: resolving install function "Nsis2Io"

Submitted by Panarchy on February 11, 2010 - 6:20am

Hello

I'm stuck on 'Generating Installer Code'. (format wasn't correct, pressed yes to all the prompts)

Any ideas on how I can get past this step? (been stuck there with no progress for over an hour)

I've tried manual compilation with the included MakeNISW, however got the following (after troubleshooting all I could);

Processed 1 file, writing output:
Adding plug-ins initializing function... Done!
Error: resolving install function "Nsis2Io" in function "mui.FinishPre_151.5.9"
Note: uninstall functions must begin with "un.", and install functions must not

Accessing an app's HELP.HTML file

The current portable apps format specification describes a help.html file that is included in the "AppNamePortable" directory.
Exploring the file structure of the official apps, you see that this file is present for every app.
However, in order to access it, you need to browse to the folder for the app.

May I request that this be added to the context menu that you see when you right-click on an app shortcut, so that it can be opened directly from the menu?
The fact that they all are called "help.html" should help with coding this, n'est-ce pas?

PortableApps.com Platform 1.6 "RemainVisible"

Submitted by SIZEMOREAT on February 3, 2010 - 4:58pm

PortableApps.com Platform 1.6 "RemainVisible" does not appear to be functioning properly. Added "RemainVisible=True" to PortableAppsMenu.ini and menu does remain visible, but clicking PortableApps.com Platform icon in system tray does not minimize menu.

Feature appears to be functioning properly using PortableApps.com Platform 1.5 & PortableApps.com Platform 2.0 Beta 3.

Shortcut key (Windows P) has gone, how to get it back?

Submitted by erwino on February 3, 2010 - 5:44am

Hi there,
the previous version could get the menu shown when you pressed Windows key and P. The new version does not respond to that, I can't recall if this is something you can create yourself or is part and parcel of the platform? Does anyone knows how to restore this?
Thanks

Apps that run on multiple platforms

Submitted by qforce on January 31, 2010 - 10:43am

Hello,

I'm the admin of DocFetcher, a desktop-search app written in Java. Currently, we have a portable version which is capable of running on both Windows and Linux, provided that a Java Runtime is installed. On Windows, the program is launched with an Exe, on Linux with a shell script.

We'd like to make this portable version Portable Apps compatible. However, after having skimmed the docs, I have the impression that Portable Apps are generally Windows-only. Is this correct? And if so, are there any plans to support programs that run on multiple platforms, especially Java programs?

Categories for PAP 2.0?

Submitted by ComputerStriker on January 29, 2010 - 10:56pm

So, it's been almost two years(or maybe 3 years) since XRX posted his version of the PAM MOD with categories. Right now, I'm on the fence deciding to use the original platforms or use the mod menu. The categories is the only thing that is attracting me to the mod right now. When are we expected to get categories in PAP? In PAP 2.0? and specifically, how much longer(in months ,si vous plait)
Thanks
