Win7 Pinned PAP does not stay in place

Submitted by Rapscallion on April 12, 2010 - 5:35pm

When pinning apps in Win7, you have the ability to arrange the pinned apps in the task bar in the order you want. I like to have the PAP Menu to the far left of the task bar so it is close to the Win7 start orb. Unfortunately the location is not "memorized" properly. If the menu is not running, the pinned PAP Menu always moves to the far right of the currently pinned apps on a reboot/login. Even if I try to move it back to the left, it just jumps back to the far right. If however I launch the platform, then I am able to move the pinned PAP Menu anywhere I want and it will stay.

[Closed] PA.c Installer, DownloadFiles, FTP & $PLUGINSDIR

Submitted by prapper on April 12, 2010 - 6:51am

If the download is cancelled while the installer is still displaying "Connecting...", the folder "$PLUGINSDIR/Downloaded" isn't removed. I can only reproduce this with FTP, HTTP cleans up fine. And so does FTP but *only* if it's cancelled once the download has started.

Is that a bug?

I tested with PicPickPortable (HTTP) & GZDoomPortable (FTP).

Taskbar button always open

Submitted by Soulmech on April 11, 2010 - 7:36pm

I'm running 64-bit Windows 7, and for whatever reason, the main PortableApps window will not leave my taskbar. The window itself goes away, but the taskbar button remains. The only way I can get this button off is to close out of the Platform app entirely.

I'm also noticing this problem with Skype, so I'm guessing it's Windows-related. Is there any way to fix it?

uno wen u open documents, musics, pictures n videos it opens wiv windows explorer which is slightly rubbish. i thought dat wen u open documents, musics, pictures n videos it will open in the portableapps suite or a portableapps explorer (which there is no such thing.) so can u create a feature for portableapps like a portableapps explorer or in the suite. by da way if u create it on a suite put a folder icon on the suite and with a color background with the icon for da background.

Commercial usage of PA

Submitted by Excel on April 9, 2010 - 7:20am

Hello,

There is no mention about the usage of the PA to bundle commercial application. Can anyone help me on this. I have a JAVA based software which I need to bundle with other applications in PA and sell. Is this permitted. If no what needs to be done.

Regards,
Excel.

I am a bit confused. If I want to use this in the installer is it already there or do I hav to call it from the installer? Also if the file sin the directory I wish to move them to already exist does it crash? I do not want to overwrite current file rather merge/update the files in the directory into a different possibly already created directory before the install of an update takes place.

I hope this makes sense?

Screen Reader accessibility

Submitted by Dhoundiyal on April 5, 2010 - 3:24pm

I'm one of the users of Portable Apps who rely on screen reader programs to read/navigate the screen content because of my visual-impairment. I use NVDA, an open source (available from www.nvda-project.org), and JAWS, a commercially sold (available from www.freedomscientific.com), screen reader apps. The PortableApps menu/interface cannot be read by these screen readers (i.e. they are inaccessible).
