Wallpaper Changer botches Slideshow in Win7

Or at least, I think it does...

Whenever I put in my flash drive, it changes to my portable wallpaper, and whenever I go back, it's stuck on the wallpaper it was on when the PortableApps.com platform took over.

It's the only solution I can think of. That, or Windows 7 forgets you have a slideshow set up and randomly stops on one. But then I go into the settings, and it doesn't say I have a slideshow set, just that I have the one it's on.

Adding PortableApps.com Format Apps to the PortableApps.com Menu

Submitted by m0d on November 10, 2009 - 8:00pm

YuS - following this:

The PortableApps.com Menu can automatically add apps in PortableApps.com Format. Just download the the PortableApps.com Installer (ending in .paf.exe) for the app you'd like to add (like FileZilla Portable, for instance). Then, in PortableApps.com Menu, click Options - Add a New App - Install and then select the FileZilla Portable .paf.exe file you just downloaded. The PortableApps.com Menu will automatically install it to the proper location for you.

Works.

how to add a shortcut back to the menu

Submitted by jhartpr on November 10, 2009 - 7:27pm

Hi there I installed a program, which listed itself 5 different times, so i was trying to find the correct one, and deleted the rest off the list by renaming them to "-" but i deleted the wrong one by mistake, so I was wondering how to add it back to the menu???

Anyone know how to do this? I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks

Shrink Size

Submitted by softwareadvisor on November 10, 2009 - 10:44am

The applications can be shrunk by about 30 - 40 kb by using a PNG optimizer, pngout or Optipng.

Pngout seems to do well but you will need drag and drop onto the executable file by file.

You can use FileMenu Tools and set the Multiple Instances to sequential so that you don't need to drag and drop 40 or more files.

Later when i put the drive back into my computer it was wiped clean, I cant access the Drive at all every time i try to open the drive windows tells me that it needs to be formated. When i try to format it, it eather just sits there and does nothing or it gets an error message.

OpenOffice Program missing from P-Apps Menu

Submitted by tsneller on November 4, 2009 - 11:49am

I installed the latest version of Open Office (3.1.1) this afternoon, and noticed that the OO Front End program "OpenOfficePortable.exe" is not shown in the P-Apps menu (v2.0 beta 3). Is this intended, or is there something wrong.

Before anyone asks "Why would you want to be able to open this, when you can just run the Individual applications?", it does give immediate access to some of the settings, and YES - i know that you can get to it by opening any other OO app and closing the open Document, but it takes longer.

NB. I have checked for Hidden Icons.

Ordering of icons on menu ... and sub-menus ??

Submitted by softfoot on November 4, 2009 - 7:36am

Hi,

I've been busily building up a portfolio of useful apps on my flash stick.

It's a GREAT tool Smile

However, I wonder if there is a way to alter the order that icons are displayed - what I would like to do is put the more frequently used ones at the top - but it seems to force them into alphabetical order.

Perhaps there is a way to do it, but I have missed it.

Also it strikes me that allowing sub-menus would be a useful way of organizing apps.

Automatic, built in desktop type thing

I was thinking about the wallpaper swapper built into the menu... In the development test releases, there is like only one desktop icon replacer that actually works. There is also the portableapps icon application, but that is only one icon, and it isn't really an icon at all.

What would be nice is if Mr. Haller could somehow add something like the wallpaper swapper, but more advanced, almost to where it creates a whole new "desktop" folder. It would have:

1) a background - perhaps it could be as easy to set and change as the menu picture is.
