I have a couple questions about the PA.c Installer. When you run a .paf.exe from the PAM's Options>Install a new App dialog, it skips several pages and begins automatically installing to the correct directory. I'm assuming it does so via a command-line argument. Can somebody tell me what the syntax for that argument is? Also, when was this implemented version-wise, say if I were to run a check on a .paf.exe's PortableApps.comInstallerVersion detail, what would be the minimum version that would support the auto-install function?
Since v1.6 and also in the 2.0 beta 4 I'm experiencing a strange problem:
When I start PortableApps everything on my desktop disappears (garbage bin, my computer, other icons). Then I start my apps and close PortableApps. When I close PortableApps everything on my desktop reappears.
Environment: LaCie ItsAKey 16Gb usb, OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64bit.
Sorry if this has been posted before...
[Moved from Beta Testnig to Support, PortableApps.com Platform and added "[Fixed]" to title - mod Chris]
Hey all.
My PA platform was working just like I wanted until I installed v1.6. Now, it's working fine except that it still disappears when I click away.
I double-checked the settings file (E:\PortableApps\PortableApps.com\Data\PortableAppsMenu.cfg (I think it's a cfg, but this comp doesn't show extensions.)) and made sure that "RemainVisible=True" was under "[DisplayOptions]", closed the platform, restarted, and the problem still remained. I even installed the v2 Beta 4, and I'm still having the same issue.
Can you guys help me out?
I edited Win7 Example theme with a result of a WinXP blue theme, where can I upload it?
Thanks...
Hi everybody,
I am completely new to PortableApps and before I start wasting hours with experimenting, I thought it a better idea to ask first.
I have an external hd attached to my router in order to access data from remote location via internet. So far I am able to access with FTP. Reason is that I am pretty often in remote offices and don't want to carry around an HD.
You added an icon in the taskbar for Windows 7 but what about a jumplist?
It's contents can be what you have in the right click menu for the tray icon. (Minus the close command, since Windows has it's own already in that menu)
It will be quite useful.
EDIT: BTW if you do decide to implment it, Windows should store the jumplists for applications somewhere so if PortableApps.com Platform had a jumplist it might leave traces there whether it is plausible to remove it or not I'm not sure about so thats up to you to figure out :P.
Hello
I'm stuck on 'Generating Installer Code'. (format wasn't correct, pressed yes to all the prompts)
Any ideas on how I can get past this step? (been stuck there with no progress for over an hour)
I've tried manual compilation with the included MakeNISW, however got the following (after troubleshooting all I could);
Processed 1 file, writing output:
Adding plug-ins initializing function... Done!
Error: resolving install function "Nsis2Io" in function "mui.FinishPre_151.5.9"
Note: uninstall functions must begin with "un.", and install functions must not
It's time to prove your girlfried that you're thinking of her all the time (you're sitting in front of your 24" TFT).

Ouch ouch stop reading this... don't hurt me, darling,...ouch
The current portable apps format specification describes a help.html file that is included in the "AppNamePortable" directory.
Exploring the file structure of the official apps, you see that this file is present for every app.
However, in order to access it, you need to browse to the folder for the app.
May I request that this be added to the context menu that you see when you right-click on an app shortcut, so that it can be opened directly from the menu?
The fact that they all are called "help.html" should help with coding this, n'est-ce pas?
