PortableApps.com Platform

I have amassed a huge collection of portable apps. Currently I have them on my D partition so I can sort through them before deciding which ones to place on the usb stick. At the end of the day I will still have too many portable apps on the usb stick and will have to scroll around looking for the app I need. Wouldn't it be better to use CATEGORIES for example System_Tools, Browsers, Download_Rip_Burn_Tools, Cleaners_Optimisers, Multimedia_apps, and so forth?

Because I'm fond of a lots of applications that I want to keep with me, I have a long list of applications in PortableApps.com. I would like to organize a bit these applications by theme, like Security, System, Games, Multimedia, Office...
Is it already possible (meaning that I would not have seen this option), planned or is it an idea that can be considered?

I just got a computer that is running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit edition.

My Problem:

When I start the computer with my Portable Apps suite thumb drive plugged in, Windows stops loading the operating system while still in the stage where the screen is black and an error message comes up saying, "missing operating system." I have to pull the thumb drive and hit the computer's reset button to start windows.

I use shared computers OFTEN. I need a mod! I dont have the skillz so I call apon you!
I need a windows start menu overlay. The round arrow graphic over part of or all the "Start" menu that launches PortableApps.com Platform. The systray isnt working out, some of the PCs i use even have systrey access disabled. I need the auto run to go and then run my tools from there. Might I suggest this be added into the Options.

I chose the option to Backup> Backup Files. I clicked Next>. Folder: My Documents. Click Backup and wait. After a while I see:

Backup Failed
The backup process failed to complete. Please check your configuration.

i have the Geek.Menu which normaly works fine on most Computer but on one computer i got a Error
"Invalid Data type for 'place0'

what is the meaning of it?
Vista works fine and XP too but the error is happen with a XP computer

I'm sure it is too late for Platform feature requests, but maybe this is already in queue and I have not found the right info...

It would be very helpful to have a function to search for updates of any installed *PortableApps.com supported* applications.

I enjoy navigating through the website, but it does get tedious checking the current version of every installed supported app, and checking to see if updates are available. Invariably, most of the apps I use are several versions old.

Let's say we made a new folder in the documents folder...

but it looks so bland because the other folders around it all have a custom icon (you know like the music, video and pictures folder...). Is it possible to make a custom icon and make it display like those icons do?

I am using the 1.5.2 platform release not the new beta.

A few days ago, I worked on my weekend-PC. I don´t know the rason, but on this day I thougt that the usb-ports are slowly (external HDD). After I restartes my PC the USB-Stick seems to be empty.
On the root I can only see files with a size of 158kb and in the "new" folder there are exactly 10000 Files with the ending "*.chk". They are 97MB.

But on the Stick is shown, that there are 2,55GB Files.

Does anybody know, that has happend?
Does anybody know, how I can restore the files?

I have been using PStart for launching portable apps and want to give the PortableApps.com platform a shot.

Installation was a breeze but I am stumbling at what must be one of the very most basic tasks - how to get non .paf format apps into the platform within directories? For example, I have many Nirsoft portable apps in their own directories nested in a 'Nirsoft' directory in PStart.

Can I accomplish the same structure in the Platform? I'm used to piling apps into directories like: Audio/Video, Games, Imaging, Net, Productivity, Utilities, etc. to organize and save menu space.
