Installation Hiccup

Submitted by Logicool1 on May 28, 2009 - 6:57am

Hi I chose to download the 'Platform Only' package. As I wanted to be able to select only the apps I actually need. I downloaded it to my 8GB memory stick. When I started to install, it seemed to be doing something in DOS? I wasn't aware that there was a DOS on a memory stick? This was followed by my printer, spontainiously spitting out sheets of paper each with a couple of words or lines of gibberish. My response was to cancel install and switch my PC off.

We Need Password Protected Apps

Submitted by faviles on May 21, 2009 - 11:22pm

PortableApps is cool even better than U3 that currently have most of their applications out of date, Firefox 2.0 by example.

I think that the only thing PortableApps needs to be more robust is a password protected applications because if you’re using FileZilla and/or Putty and your thumb-drive is lost or stolen other person will have access to this sensitive applications with sensitive data stored between them meaning that someone will have chance to access to your router or servers before passwords can be changed.

Portable apps path variable?

Hi, there is an environment variable set by the Portable Apps Platform that point out to the "myflashdrive:\PortableApps" path?

I ask this for some apps have configuration parameters wich point to another app location.

In my case, in Total Commander I can set an external editor, and I usually set Notepad++ for this, specifically my portable usb notepad++ installed on the pendrive.

The problem is: in the path parameter I've to write the full path, example:
G:\PortableApps\Notepad++Portable\Notepad++Portable.exe

Is possible to convert this option:

RemainVisible=True

In a numeric options with the number of seconds the menu will stay visible in a future release?
It'll be very usefull when it's needed to launch 2 or 3 apps every now and then but not always.

Just a very-very-background request, on the bottom of the list Smile

Multi Monitor Display problem

Hi,

in reply to this topic (replying isn't possible any more, i think because the post is too old) ... :
https://portableapps.com/node/4682

I have two monitors, and my taskbar is on the secondary monitor. clicking on portable apps taskbar icon, portable apps shows up on the primary monitor.

Delphi fully supports dual monitor setups so it should be no problem to fix this!

Example:

{get index of monitor with taskbar on it}
function GetMonitorWithTaskBarIndex: Integer;
var
I: Integer;
WorkArea: TRect;
AllMonitor: TRect;
begin
Result := 0;
