Text, Icon, or Both

Submitted by dragonmage on February 24, 2007 - 11:00am

To give theme designers and end users more choices, I think it would be cool if you could allow the apps section and folders/options section to show either icons , text, or both. We could then design themes that used only text ( some people don't like icons ), or text on the apps section and only icons on the folders/options section. Combined with my idea of adjustable margins this allows a lot of flexibility in theme design.
This would be a setting made in the .ini by the theme designer, and the end user could change them by editing the .ini if they wanted it different.

HELP: Cannot Uninstall Apps Menu

Submitted by dford3772 on February 22, 2007 - 4:18pm

I had a working copy of FF 2.0.0.1 on my 512. I also had its exe. file on the drive.
When I installed the Apps Suite Menu a non-updated copy of FF appeared on the menu.

My drive is locked in that I cannot remove the unwanted copy of FF nor can I get
the Apps Menu to delete as it says it cannot remove FF because it is being used some where else. I stored a copy of my working FF in My Documents and stripped the
drive virtually except I CANNOT delete the Apps Menu. It's beautiful to look at
but PStart worked very well and I never had problems like this. Somehow there are

autorun.inf shell command

For accessibility, it would be nice to add a right-click option for PortableApps in Windows Explorer.

This can be done by adding the following lines to the autorun.inf:

Shell\Read1\Command=PortableApps\PortableAppsMenu\PortableAppsMenu.exe
Shell\Read1=&Start PortableApps

You can have as many pairs as you want for any options. Perhaps have a command here to launch Firefox or Thunderbird.

Menu Source

Submitted by A_Coder on February 19, 2007 - 8:47pm

Forgive me if I'm opening up old wounds, but I was wondering where the source for the menu could be found. I've read though the previous discussions, and didn't find anything, and a quick search over the download and spec. page didn't show and source files or links. Any help in finding this would be great.

Fade In/Out effect for PortableAppsMenu

Submitted by dj-ad on February 18, 2007 - 11:00am

Hello all !

I have a suggestion for the PortableAppsMenu application.
Is it possible to add an option to desactivate the Fade In/Out effect that shows up the menu when clicking on the icon in the systray ?

My computer is slightly slow and it's really fading in & out so slowly, it's a bit hard to use the menu for me.
For those who hates visual effects (like me) it could be a great stuff too.

Your software is a huge one, thanks a lot for developping it!!!
