Improving Back up utility, adding "Sync with mirror and final compression"

Submitted by Domenico on February 21, 2011 - 1:08pm

Hi,
I think that the back up as it is now is not guaranteeing
a nice and proper restore of data. If you restore your back up, your restored folders and files could be different from the original ones from where you started the back up.
Lets make an example.

Sync with delete

Submitted by Leines on February 9, 2011 - 4:10am

Hello,

I want to use Toucan to sync my company PC with an USB device and my Laptop.
The first sync is perfect, but if I delete something, for example on the USB device and sync with my company PC the deleted file is back on the USB device.

Thank you for support

Sync Preview with Preview Only Changes (toucan 3.0.4)

Submitted by LoebeJo on February 4, 2011 - 4:45am

The option "Preview Only Changes" is very usefull for large amounts of data ( i use it on 15000 files and 400 folders). When using this over LAN/WLAN you will see first the whole tree in source and destination and little by little the folders will be removed, if they are identical. Only the things to sync will remain in the both trees.

This process takes a long time (nearly 3 hours). The functionality in general works fine, but it would be nice to see the status of syncing (in process or finished).

Scheduled Task - Bat File

In previous versions I have been able to schedule a windows task using a bat file that had the simple command "toucan Script scriptname". With 3.0.4 these bat files no longer work. What is the command that I should use in the bat file for 3.0.4 to accomplish the same thing? Thanks for your help.

Error: "Upgrading to this version of Toucan is not supported" on start.

Submitted by DiverKev on January 29, 2011 - 8:47am

I'm trying to launch Toucan 3.0.4 from an SD card on a Win 7 PC. When I try to launch it, it throws the above error message.

Thing is, it just ran yesterday on this machine, and only minutes before on my Vista laptop from the same SD card.

Any ideas what's going on?

I reinstalled Toucan 3.0.4 to the card in case it was a corruption issue, but that didn't affect it. Neither Toucan nor 7zip is running (stuck) in the background, according to Task Manager.
