Toucan

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about this issue for weeks now and found no solution. So I'm very very thankfull for every hint, tip or thought to get closer to a solution.

The task:
I have a lot of small and big files in one folder (circa 50GB) which I like to store encrypted on a cloud drive on a daily base. Of course I would like to upload only new and chanded files to the cloud after (long) initial upload.

Ideal situation:

I use the three buttons on SYNC or BACKUP to create jobs.

Since I have identified some issues I am having with job creation, it has become apparent that there could be a flag popup that would tell me that a job is invalid and needs to be recreated before I run a script. In particular after I create the job before moving on to the next creation.

During job creation I am not notified of a job being invalid unless I go through the list of jobs selecting each one to see which one comes up invalid.

Should I exit the software the invalid jobs usually disappear.

This becomes tiresome.

I tried to explain this issue in a previous discussion last year and didn't succeed in clarifying the questions.

I am using windows 7 pro sp1 32
I have the same issue in both SYNC and BACKUP Job Creation

I have several jobs in the list already.
I create a new job using the "+" key to add it.
I do all the selections for the file locations and all the windows are populated.
I make the variable selections and do a test run.
I select the disc key to save the job.
I select the "+" key to add a new job.
A popup window occurs asking to save the current job.

I didn't catch on to this one until I was running SYNC scripts again.

The buttons you refer to for saving a log file does not show the popup description. I did not realize that was the purpose for the buttons.

Firstly, thanks for your PoartableApps system and your application Toucan, they do a really great job.

I propose you a new feature.

Is it possible to have a dialog box who appears when Toucan find a conflic between 2 files?

I give you more precision, in "Synchro" tab when you use a synchro task with "Equalize" function, Toucan always keep the last modified file and in a specific case, you can loose data.

i just tried PR 7 and later PR6.
When i open Toucan Error1 comes:

I tried to run one job and got various more errors.
changing the language of toucan did not help.

i could not find something similar in the latest threads, so i created a new one.
do you need more info?

Just installed Toucan 3.0.4, and when I try to launch it, it immediately exits.

Rebooted PC; same problem.

This is on a Windows7 machine; might that be the issue?

Don't know where to start looking.

I have a concern running a script in SYNC and being able to hit the 'X' in the upper top right corner of the progress window closing the progress window and then hitting the 'X' on toucan and shutting down the software very quickly.

When I do this procedure what is happening to the file or files being processed or was the software already hanging?

When I select the CANCEL button in the progress window, the software is doing something but I can't tell what it is doing or what files are in jeopardy.

I run scripts in sync

I select the sync tab
In the dropdown window I select the script to run.
The progress window opens and starts to populate.

This progress window is different from the progress window of running a sync of an individual job. The progress bar is missing.

I believe that I detect the spaces in the listed file progress indicates moving from one job to the next in the sync script progress.

Is there a way to prevent or notify a user that Toucan is already running?

I should not be able to click on the icon and have multiple versions running.
