LibreOffice Portable

LibreOffice 6.3.0 is out to much fanfare. Is portable install in the works?

Submitted by sunk818 on August 15, 2019 - 10:32am

https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/?type=win-x86&version=6.3....

I think I'm running 6.2.6 now and would like to check out 6.3.0 - they said the performance improved greatly.

Microsoft Office is going completely subscription model now so there's very few alternatives for free or one-time pay office suites.

Some questions/comments on LibreOffice Portable.

My questions and comments concern both LibreOffice Portable Still and LibreOffice Portable Fresh.

Angel For both Still and Fresh the full version number of LibreOffice is not shown in the download pages. Things would be improved if the full version number were stated. Specifically, if the user intends to install the Offline Help Pack then currently the user needs to do the following:

LibreOffice updater

LibreOffice used to update as part of the regular update process when I opened PortableApps. That doesn't seem to be happening now.

When I open any LibreOffice component I get a prompt that a new version is available and that I should to download the update. I did that, but I am holding off installing it until I learn a little more since I use LibreOffice daily. The version I downloaded is 6.2.3 and is a 288 MB Windows installer package.

"LibreOffice 6.2.2 Portable MultilingualAll.paf" contains only few languages in the list from the kit window

"LibreOffice 6.2.2 Portable MultilingualAll.paf" does not contain all languages. Contains only a few languages (in fact, it is the standard kit with only a few languages in the installation list from the kit window).
Eg., my language, Romanian, is missing in the language list from the installation kit window.
I have updated with this kit and deleted the Romanian language from Libreoffice Portable, by ticking "Remove Extra Language" on installation.
Please re-correct the kit.
Thank you for understanding.

Portable Built-in Help?

Submitted by chumbo on February 22, 2019 - 4:52am

Hi,
Is it possible to have a portable built-in Help? It's not in the portable version and when you try to open it and redirects you either to an online version or invites you to download it from the Libreoffice website.

But I only found an .msi installer for the built-in Help which makes me think that when I move my portable folder, it will be lost.
Anyway to have the built-in help portable?
Thx!
