From what I can see in the launcher, only one value in the regfile is adjusted, whereas I have many keys that contain paths -
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7-zip\Compression\ArcHistory] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7-zip\Extraction\PathHistory] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7-zip\FM]
Hello, I just want to make sure if I can use 7zg.exe (that comes in 7-Zip Portable) with commands (like x "%1" -o*) in a standalone way / without leaving traces just like the 7Z.exe or 7za.exe modules.
The installed non portable version of 7-Zip uses 7zG for the extraction jobs (that´s why I wonder whether the one that comes in the portableapps package is standalone), though I don´t plan to use the normal commands that make use of -slp- -an -ai... that don´t work in a portable way, instead I just want to use commands like the one posted above.
I want to use my USB Flash drive to backup network files.
It looks like 7zip Portable wants to backup my USB Flash Drive onto a some other media (local, network or otherwise).
Can I Use 7zip Portable to Backup Network Files Onto a USB Flash Drive? If not, can you suggest some other open-source product?
I'd like to use 7-zip portable in a GPL app (including bundling it with my app; of course I'd give credit to PortableApps.com); the thread located at https://portableapps.com/node/17673 makes me think I can do this, but I want to be sure...
Thanks!
The Shell Context Menus work great. Flash drive not connected - no shortcut menu for 7-Zip. Connect the drive - now there's a shortcut menu.
However...
7-zip.dll is loaded as soon as you right-click something in Windows Explorer. That .dll stays loaded until you close that specific instance of Explorer. This prevents the flash drive from being removed safely until all Explorer windows that have seen a right-click have been closed.
I just updated 7-zip to 4.65 Rev. 2 and in the midst of the installation process, I got this error pop-up:
---------------------------
7-Zip Portable | PortableApps.com Installer

Error opening file for writing: F:\PortableApps\7-ZipPortable\App\7-Zip\7-zip.dll Click Abort to stop the installation, Retry to try again, or Ignore to skip this file.

Hi just wondered are there any plans to include SIT (Stuffit) archives or is this format copyrighted or otherwise ?
I had some files e-mailed today from a MAC and it would have been handy.
Cheers
I have the latest AVG updates, and can't use 7-zip due to a false positive trojan horse.

So, what should I do?
I know that it is possible to create a portable, "stand-alone" version of a program using Universal Extractor and WinRAR. A tutorial on how to do that can be found at:
http://www.ehow.com/how_4742635_application-portable.html
I was wondering if it were possible to complete that same task using 7-Zip. I do not know if there are specific parameters that must be used or if it is not possible at all. I would much rather create a portable program as shown in the tutorial I linked above but use 7-Zip in place of WinRAR, as I am more comfortable with that program and I prefer it.
