I just updated 7-zip to 4.65 Rev. 2 and in the midst of the installation process, I got this error pop-up:

---------------------------
7-Zip Portable | PortableApps.com Installer

Error opening file for writing: F:\PortableApps\7-ZipPortable\App\7-Zip\7-zip.dll Click Abort to stop the installation, Retry to try again, or Ignore to skip this file.

Create Portable Apps Using 7-Zip?

I know that it is possible to create a portable, "stand-alone" version of a program using Universal Extractor and WinRAR. A tutorial on how to do that can be found at:
http://www.ehow.com/how_4742635_application-portable.html

I was wondering if it were possible to complete that same task using 7-Zip. I do not know if there are specific parameters that must be used or if it is not possible at all. I would much rather create a portable program as shown in the tutorial I linked above but use 7-Zip in place of WinRAR, as I am more comfortable with that program and I prefer it.

7-Zip: Creating splitted archives Winzip-compatible?

Submitted by KlaDie on January 20, 2009 - 7:28am

Hello everybody,

I often have to create splitted archives which has to be compatible to Winzip. So in the past I used Winzip to create these archives. But I would like to switch to 7-Zip when creating these archives. The porblem is, when I create a splitted archive with Winzip I get these Files, e.g:
File.zip
File.z01
File.z02

When I create a splitted archive with 7-zip I get these Files:
File.zip.001
File.zip.002
File.zip.003

Which I can not open with Winzip. Does anyone have an idea how I can solve this problem?

Using 7-Zip Portable from the command line

Hey,

I'm working on a simple script to let me drop various archive files on to a small GUI to automatically decompress the archive and -if the decompression was successful- delete the original archive. Since I would like my script to be portable I've been trying to use 7za.exe, the help file explains:

"7za.exe (a = alone) is a standalone version of 7-Zip. 7za.exe supports only 7z, cab, zip, gzip, bzip2, Z and tar formats"

This is what my recent scan found. My ClamWinPortable was suposed infected with a Trojan Agent. I doubt it. Someone has had the same behaviour recently? What could we do?
