7-Zip: portable shell integration

Now, I understand that this is a touchy topic, and is considered "unsafe", but in this particular case I think it is warranted. Currently, whenever you change options in 7-zip portable (enabling context menu, file associations, etc) it treats it as though it was a desktop installation and so, if you HAVE a desktop installation already, it overwrites your local settings. Is there any way to add this into the launcher to backup the file associations and other options, then create file associations to the portable version?

7-Zip: Backup and restore problem

Submitted by xftnfnb7 on December 19, 2007 - 10:24am

I use a command line to compress my portable apps file to an EXE. Upon running EXE to restore the files to another thumb drive my Thunderbird local the files are on the disk and the settings are showing correctly in the accounts but the Thunderbird tree view does not show them.

When I use the 7z interface everything works correctly. Any thoughts...

Command line
7ZA.EXE a -r D:\Test2\PortableApps.EXE *.* -WD:\Test2 -sfx7zCon.sfx

7-Zip: 7zip Self-Extracting Installer

Submitted by LittleUnkn0wn on October 19, 2007 - 5:57pm

I've opened it up with Resource Hacker, and I would like to specify a directory to extract to. The default is the directory that the exe is currently in. What should I edit?

EDIT: Let me rephrase: I am trying to make a self-extracting archive, and I want it to default to a certain location, instead of its current directory i.e. instead of defaulting to X:\blah blah, I want it to default to C:\, for example.
