PuTTY: change exe name not working? (John, read this)

Submitted by obenhodc on March 25, 2007 - 1:27pm

i'm having trouble getting PuTTYPortable to work with different settings in the ini file. all that i have changed is the PuTTYExecutable line, and i also changed the name of putty.exe to puttyTest.exe.

[PuTTYPortable]
PuTTYDirectory=App\putty
SettingsDirectory=Data\settings
PuTTYExecutable=puttyTest.exe
AdditionalParameters=
DisableSplashScreen=false

is there something else i'm doing wrong?

FileZilla: My comments

Submitted by dirhtml on March 23, 2007 - 6:51pm

These may relate to Filezilla itself, not the portable version...

The comments:
* It's not immediately obvious how to add a folder to the local site drop-down list, or how the list is maintained. Maybe there should be an "Add this folder" button or something of the like.
* Pressing "Insert" while an ftp:// folder tree is active should bring up a create folder dialog box

That's it!

Xming Portable Putty

Glad to see Putty added to the PortableApps.com lineup, I use Putty daily. You keep adding all my favorite apps.

Xming has a portable version of all the Putty apps, not just Putty itself. The Xming version stores settings and host keys as files, but can also read registry entries. The only thing it seems to lack is a way to get settings stored in the files back into the registry.

Pidgin: Gaim portale 2.0.6 is not working with Chinese IM such as Chinese MSN

Submitted by Alloster on March 19, 2007 - 3:23pm

1. I justed installed latest version Gaim Portable on my external HD. When I tried to IM with a Chinese version of MSN messenger, I had problems with Gaim portable on my Win XP Notebook machine.

1. I couldn't input characters like ",", "?", or ".", have to switch to English input to get these characters in.

2. After I input a Chinese sentence, "Enter" didn't work at all, I couldn't sent any messenger with "Enter", I have to switch back to English input mode to use "Enter" to send messenges.
