New Pidgin Crash

Submitted by mwaldron on August 14, 2007 - 9:53am

This morning I updated from the preview version (which was in turn updated from GAIM) to the newly released Pidgin. I also added the encryption plugins.

Everything worked ok for about an hour, then pidgin unexpectedly froze. I terminated it and then restarted it, and 5 seconds after the chat dialog boxes returned (I have it configured for 3 IRC channels in tabs via SSL) it froze again.

Further investigation has determined that as soon as I start pidgin it starts grabbing memory and pegging 1 core of my cpu until it grabs approximately 1200MB at which time windows kills the process.

Error loading pidgin.dll
Error: (1114) A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.

GTK in directory \CommonsFiles but same problem when GTK in \PidginPortable\App\GTK.

Hereby you will find my conputer information:

CPU : 3000 MHz
Bus Speed : 800 MHz
Motherboard : Dell 0FJ030
System : Dell Dell DXP051

some suggestions for new pidgin portable

Submitted by jps on August 13, 2007 - 3:00pm

I start my own build of pidgin with a batch file.
set PIDGIN_MULTI_INST=2
start ./Pidgin/pidgin.exe -c Data /nosplash /minimized

Frist feature is to write PIDGIN_MULTI_INST to windows variables. This could be done to start the launcher with an option -PIDGIN_MULTI_INST=2.

Second feature to be able to add /nosplash and /minimized to the launcher so no splash screen will pop up and pidgin will be started into tray and not fullscreen.

Miranda: connecting MSN through a Proxy

Submitted by wickiman on August 3, 2007 - 12:26pm

Hello,

I am trying to connect Miranda through a company proxy. It allows me to surf through the internet but it seams not to allow me to connect to MSN.
I changed the settings to the HTTP proxy.
I changed the MSN settings to the HTTP gateway mode but it doesn't work.

Does anybody know if it is possible to connect through the HTTP protocol like a browser?

Thanks
Wickiman

Secure Pidgin - portable?

I don't remember who was talking about this on this forum, so I decided to start a new topic...

I found this http://www.silcnet.org/ that is supposed to be an encripted/secure pidgin... I don't know if it's totally GPL (at least pidgin is) and I don't know if it's portable or can be made portable... I'm just posting for information on interested people, since somebody in the past talked about this feature with pidgin.

Pidgin: Some Section of Gaim is not Portable

Some section of gaim is not portable
for example:
-Each account icons
--Main Icon (It can not browser for icons relative)

-Log (It will use windows/system foler and can not use relative path to hold logs)

When i set my account icons and then use another computer my gaim will report error that file not found and i just find config files on Gaim/app/ an xml file that hold configuration and then remove files.

I think it do not work full with relative path
