Pidgin: Last position

Submitted by powerjamer4ever on March 9, 2007 - 12:42am

Notice that Gaim Portable would remember the last position.
First used Gaim Portable on a wide screen PC. shifted the window to the top right.

then moved my USB to a laptop

started Gaim Portable.
it appeared to be out of the screen of my laptop

Since Gaim Portable is portable, maybe it should dynamically position itself to be within the screen area instead of the previous position.

Pidgin: settings, usernames and passwords deleted

Submitted by guestt on March 8, 2007 - 11:02am

Ok ,this might sound stupid but I am sure I am not. Smile

I don`t know exactly why but it`s true. I am using portableapps on my harddisk (d:\...) aswell too. If I format c:\ and reinstall windows then my accounts and passwords are not longer saved in portable gaim.

The otr files are deleted aswell. But gaim is still startable...

I am almost sure you won`t belive me. I guess gaim will delete the settings on gaim`s first start on new system. Perhaps it`s not portable gaim`s failure, but otr`s.

PuTTY: Version number

Submitted by jacksont3 on March 6, 2007 - 2:21pm

The current version number should be 0.59, not 0.5.9.

Is there any way to get PuTTY Portable to understand that, if the USB drive
is write-protected, I don't want anything written on it, and it shouldn't
bother to ask? It works quite well, except for that.

Thanks.

PuTTY: Private key selection

Submitted by miketigerwoods on March 5, 2007 - 4:32pm

I used to use local installs of Putty with a private key on my USB drive. Now that this was released I'd like to move it all to my USB drive.

However, when saving the session, I have to select the location for my private key: H:\foo.ppk. If I plug my drive into another computer the drive letter may change.

PuTTY: Thank you!

Submitted by KlfJoat on March 5, 2007 - 12:01pm

I want to thank John for creating a PortableApp for PuTTY!

When I donated money to PortableApps (which I encourage all users of this wonderful service to do), John emailed me back personally. He thanked me for my donation, and asked if there was any particular improvement or app I would like to see. My only request was a Portable version of PuTTY.

Writing security code is difficult, and previous attempts to make PuTTY portable (in particular, portaPuTTY) modify the source. This makes me nervous, as I am not a programmer and I worry about what else may be modified.

Merge PuTTY Portable with portaPuTTY?

Submitted by GrumpySmurf on March 4, 2007 - 10:01pm

I've been using portaPuTTY for all my portable PuTTY needs on my flash drive, as it does not store configuration and session information in the registry.

Is there any chance that portaPuTTY could be merged with PuTTY Portable, so configuration information is not written to the registry, but is stored in files on the flash drive?

PuTTY: Extended ASCII?

Submitted by Green Hat Linux on March 3, 2007 - 10:23am

does Putty support extended ASCII? if it does, does it need to be enabled or something?

edit

well, i got something to work by setting the translation to CP437, don't know if thats how it was meant to be done, but at least it seems to work at least

Edit 2

for some reason it doesn't save the above change, so i have to switch it every time i start a new session...any ideas?

PuTTY: Not saving my sessions

Once i have entered a session, saved it and used it, then the next time I run putty the session is not there.

I checked the putty.reg file and upon exit is does contain my session, but after starting putty and exiting it has gone.

Am I missing something?

I guess this will be similar to portaputty (http://socialistsushi.com/portaputty) - which doesn't use the registry, so are you planning on introducing the other putty apps into the same distribution, or just sticking with putty?
