Miranda: Profile can not be altered? Doesn't keep settings...

Submitted by Elchfaenger on May 16, 2007 - 10:37am

Hi everybody, i could use some help with the following problem:

I installed Miranda IM Portable, it works perfectly, with all Plugins, but:
It doesn't store any settings in the profile.dat. My Message History should go there as well as informations about read RSS feeds and so on.

Seems like Miranda just refuses to write that profile.dat even though it isn't write-protected...
Any ideas?

Pidgin: Font Size

Submitted by markw on May 15, 2007 - 2:23pm

How do I know what font size is being sent out to the person on the recieving end?

I installed the latest version of Gaim portable and I see the increase/decrease font size button, But people on the other end say the font is huge but looks ok on my screen.

I hit the lower font size and they say it looks ok, then I can hardly see it on my screen because it has gotten so small.

Is their a work around or setting to make the out going font size a certain size that doesn't change?

Pidgin: Data\settings not found when .ini file used

Submitted by oneandoneis2 on May 1, 2007 - 5:29am

I wanted to disable the splash screen, so I copied the ini file from the source directory. However, it results in an error message when I try to use it, saying it can't find "Data\settings" - even though this directory does in fact exist.

Screenshot

As you can see, the directory exists, the ini file seems correct, but the error message still appears.

Any suggestions?

PuTTY: Portable Firefox + SSH Tunnel

Submitted by StephenQ on April 30, 2007 - 12:45am

I have followed the guide here: https://portableapps.com/node/6663 to forward port 443 on my router to port 22 of a Fedora Core 6 box running OpenSSH. I am using PuTTY Portable of course to connect to it, and it is working fine as far as ssh goes.

As said in the guide, i have forwarded port 5678 to go down the ssh tunnel and set portable firefox running foxyproxy to use that as a proxy.

Allowing multiple instances of PuTTYPortable

Submitted by neddyfreddy on April 20, 2007 - 2:40pm

I know this has been discussed in some of the other topics here. Is there anyway that PortableApp PuTTY can be made to utilize other registry locations so that multiple instances of PuTTY can be ran? I looked into some other ways around this problem, like xming and portaPuTTY but I don't want an option that modifies the source code.
