I recently got the prompt to update my GIMP Portable Apps, so I assume it was the release version. I am getting the GIMP Portable unable to start due to gimp-2.10.exe unable to be found message. After several tries deleted the install and retried using the PAF and the installer from the Portable Apps platform and still get the gimp-2.10.exe unable to be found message.

looks like failed install,Am I right? another way to fix this?

I updated my PA frameworks copy of IrfanView four days ago, and soon found I couldn't save any updates to my preferences. IrfanView warned me of this as soon as I entered the Options dialog, saying

Your INI file 'D:\Development\Portable Apps\IrfanView\Releases\IrfanViewPortable\Data\IrfanView\i_view.ini' is read-only.

I don't even have a D drive. I think the PA packager has inadvertently left a trace of their system in the released code.

I fixed this by finding the file which specified that file path. It was in a plain text .INI fle at

All DDS files are viewed incorrectly, there's a 4x4 pixel block missing on the bottom right.

Also tested with a 4x4 dds file, and on that case it won't even open and just give a "Decode error !" : "Can't decompress file!" .

32-bit version of GIMP crashes if you try to edit huge images, e.g. professional photos. While I suspect it's unsuited for the task anyway due to how slow it does it, crashes don't help either. Could GIMP choose between 32 and 64 bits like FireFox does?

GIMP Portable (2.10) can't run if installed to "C:\ProgramFiles". Please fix by allowing the program to run from within "C:\ProgramFiles" by either a) copying the GIMP Portable directory to a temporary location within the current User's directory and running from there, or b) Run from "C:\ProgramFiles" if the current user is an Administrator.

Anyone having ideas on adding Languages, as the Install Language extension to KADMOS gives Error 720 (Error on opening file containing the download directory on the internet server).

Pulled the zip file, but there's no readme - so I took the chance to install them directly into the PortableApps folder:

In Blender, it is necessary to copy the opengl.dll in the folder BlenderPortable \ App \ Blender64

This probably isn't necessary because I see lots of other posts that suggest the current portable GIMP just doesn't work. In my case it took forever to launch and when it finally did the first thing I wanted to do was customize some settings. Selecting Edit>Preferences caused it to crash immediately. I did try it on both a Windows 7 and Windows 10 computer with same result.

The GIMP community is experimenting on converting the GIMP Windows package to UWP/Microsoft Store-ready material using the Desktop Bridge (visit https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/bridges/desktop), and needs a little help I believe can be assisted by the PortableApps community, due to the "containerized" nature of how PortableApps work. (Dependency errors are everywhere when the standard GIMP for Windows install is converted using the Desktop Bridge.)
