vlc player supports .mkv files?

Hi guys got a small problem using VLC Portable to view screen capture movies I make.
The only ones to play use the techsmith codec all others that use.wmv or msu codec (.avi format) wont play picture just sound (sound is .mpg3). I'd expect problems with .wmv as it is windows but not the msu codec. Any idea what the problem might be.

Is it just me, or does VLC skip audio playback?

I was playing around with foobar2000, and it seemed to play continuously, regardless of CPU usage, but VLC skips occasionally.

Has the http interface been removed from VLC Portable? I checked the modifications log on the app homepage and it does not mention it.
If you turn on debug log and then start the http interface and you get:

only, when i try to go to this url in vlc it tries to open it as a mmc:// file and does not, please help

I downloaded vlc portable 0.8.4a and did some changes according to the "Strip Portable VLC" post and removed some other things to. Now I would like to know how to change the image that apear when you clic

About how long is it going to take you guys to update VLC to 0.8.6b?
Sorry about posting this, just wondering what the general timeframe for an update will be.

i was recording a streaming raido station for 3 hours but when i went to play it back, it recorded for 2 hours but only 17 minuts worth of dismantled songs. it had diferent songs all cut into pieces along a 17 minut track and i was pissed. this ever happen to anyone else?

Any way to fix this?
