Lauching from the commanline in multiple windows

Submitted by jmandawg on September 2, 2011 - 3:28pm

Normal firefox will let me launch multiple windows from the commandline like this using the -new-window flag:

Firefox.exe -new-window

if try to do that with firefoxportable.exe it says:

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."

Is there any way i can launch multiple windows from the commandline?

How do I restart FF6 Portable? Add-ons problem

Submitted by Fluffy283 on September 1, 2011 - 7:00pm

As it says above, I have FF6 Portable. Mostly it works just fine, in face, I use it regardless of other browsers available to me. I have never before had any problem with FireFox Portable and I only have one problem with 6.

When I start Firefox, my Persona loads and the connection works fine. But, none of my add-ons work. They're all enabled and in fact, this is the weird part. If I install a new add-on, and accept the prompt to restart Firefox, my add-ons will then load fine and continue to work as expected.

Possible to run portable Firefox without using Appdata, Temp etc folders

Submitted by jags_fl on August 22, 2011 - 10:16am

I used to run portable Firefox from RAM drive but then I noticed that it still uses Appdata etc folders on hard drive. I did move Firefox cache to a separate folder in RAM drive though.

So, is it possible to run portable Firefox without using any folder or file on hard drive at all? (Appdata, Temp, Cache, Profile, etc) If possible, in how many places do I have I move paths in portable Firefox to make it use just one main folder...

Thanks a million in advance.

Help: after upgrade to FF6, it no longer works

Submitted by Toby Bartels on August 19, 2011 - 2:54pm

I just upgraded my Firefox Portable to version 6.0. Now if I start the program, nothing happens; I get the flash screen, and then the program quits. (I also have Firefox Portable Second Profile installed, and it gives the same behaviour.) I tried starting in Safe Mode, with the same result, although I'm not sure if I did that correctly; I didn't find a Safe Mode executable, so I ran it from the command line and added -safe-mode to the end of the command. Also, no error messages (or feedback of any sort) appears when I run from the command line.

Already tried this topic, but it doesn't work...
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Location%20bar%20search?s=config&as=s

Also tried downloading new firefox portable edition and removed the data folder. But still the same problem.

Tried installing the desktop edition of firefox and also there the same problem. Removed the app with Revo Uninstaller, which also scans the computer for left overs, but still the same problem.

Tried to disable all plugins but still the same problem.

Firefox 6.0 Portable to Permanent?

Submitted by Crisender123 on August 17, 2011 - 4:38pm

Hi

I am using XP. Currently the following folders & files reside in my FirefoxPortable folder.

App
Data
Other
FirefoxPortable.exe
help.html

If I locally install a fresh copy of normal Firefox 6.0 on C:\ drive, what should I do to get the exact same settings, plug-ins, add-ons & extensions as the portable version? Which folders do I copy & where to?

Thanks for your time.
Andy.
