FFP stops functioning if folder renamed

Submitted by Bruce Pascoe on March 20, 2008 - 10:14am

I've found that often, Firefox Portable (and Thunderbird--probably Sunbird too) stops functioning correctly if its folder is renamed.

What happens is that, after the folder is renamed, the browser won't load any pages, instead giving a blank white page regardless of what you try to navigate to. Deleting the profile folder and letting FF create a new one doesn't help, but if I rename the folder back to what it was when it was installed, it starts working again.

Using Firefox Portable over a network share

Submitted by rpycroft on March 17, 2008 - 9:54am

Hi, is there any way to use Firefox Portable for multiple users over a network share? I know there is an MSI available somewhere to do the normal install but I think it'd be easier to keep track of it over a network share. Whenever I try to run 2 instances of it on 2 seperate PCs it says that it's already running (but when I try and run one it works ok). I've tried the AllowMultipleInstances=true change to the .ini file but doesn't seem to affect anything.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Richard.

FFP Not recognising .htm files...

Submitted by thetasigma2 on March 15, 2008 - 9:44am

Ok, started using FFP after a long while to browse more easily at my local community centre and for some odd reason it is failing to recognise .htm files.

It gives me the option to save them or open with default application (Internet Explorer 7). So I tried change this to "other application... > Mozilla Firefox" then it decided to download to my C: drive and opened it in a new tab in non-complete form as it was trying to rename all the links on the page to places on the C: drive...

Firefox launcher

I would like to have the latest Firefox Portable launcher, but don't want to download the full install.

The reason for this is that I'm updating my localizated version for a long time now and don't want to lose all the stuff I've done to it so far.

There is a way to download only the exec file? (FirefoxPortable.exe)

Thanks in advance. Smile
