Macromedia Flash Player Install-no Admin. Previlege?

Submitted by bme on March 8, 2006 - 12:14am

I am new to the Portable Firefox although I use firefox as my default browser on my own desktop.
I have installed PFF on a flash disk to be able to use it whever I go. However when I tried to use it on my office pc I am not ale to view sites which require/use mcromedia flash player. I do not have administrator previledge in order to install the flash plugin so as of now this "portable"webbrowser is really a crippled one for me.
My question now is that is there a way to install the plugin "manually" i.e. copy and paste? I know that in BartPE cd this is done.

Bad Upgrade

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on March 6, 2006 - 1:21pm

Every time Firefox downloads the newest upgrade it is bad. When the upgrade is finished and I start the program, the File Edit View text shows up, and half of the address bar, but entire page is transparent and those things listred above are the only things visible. Nothing else shows on my screen. Is anyone else having this problem? And what can I do to ensure turn off the auto-download. I have reloaded Port. Firefox several times, but every time it wants to upgrade and I never have a choice, so I have to erase the files and re-unzip them back into the folder.... Thanks for any help. -

PFirefox: "Firefox is already running", but Firefox ok

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on March 6, 2006 - 12:45pm

Hi

I have read the topics on this subject, and since I am encountering the same problems, I am posting my findings.

I have a new installed computer with XP Pro+SP1. I burn a CDR with Portable Firefox along with Apache (portable configuration of it), and PHP. My application is working fine using default browser installed on my computer like normal Firefox and IE.

When I launch portable firefox from CDR either automatically or by double clicking on the EXE, I get the now well famous message: "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." Needless to say, that I did not change an inch of the config of firefox, nor the EXE name, nothing at all. I am using what has been packaged and extracted.

Gray Tab?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on March 2, 2006 - 7:17pm

Hey John,
I did the tutorial on johnhaller.com to make portable firefox look like internet explorer, and in the adress input area there is a large gray tab on the right. I assume that this is for feeds, how do I remove it? Any help given would be appreciated.
Thanks

Cannot download files

I'm using the latest version of portable firefox on a Memorex u3 256meg. Works fine on the xp computers at school, but when I try to run it on win2000 pro at home I'm not able to download any files. "Save picture as," "save link as" etc. all give me a split second of hourglass, then nothing. This feature works fine in regular firefox and IE on the same machine. is this just a 2000 bug, or am I doing something wrong?

Firefox requests an update

Submitted by nttuzydupcpm on February 24, 2006 - 10:46am

Is there a problem if Firefox updates itself? I have the current PortableApps Suite with Firefox 1.5, but Firefox told me it needed to update. So I let it, but it apparently only went from 1.5 (portable) to 1.5 (non-portable, I guess).

Is this a problem?
