Disabling Bookmark Backups

Submitted by rick on February 17, 2006 - 9:53am

I'm getting bookmark backup files written every time I run portable Firefox. They are written in the bookmarksbackup folder under the profile folder. How do I disable this? I don't need to have them backed up and I don't want a bunch of junk written to my USB drive.

What am I doing wrong?

Hello

I've installed Portable Firefox and portable Thunderbird on my USB stick, and I use them mainly on a PC which previously has the desktop version.

when I uninstalled Firefox from this machine it obviously lose the HTML file association with Firefox. I Like very much to read RSS feeds titles in Thunderdbird and then open the body in Firefox but seemed to me that with the portable version it isn't possible anymore. Yesterday I register portable firefox as the default browser and everything seemed to work the old way, but this is not true: when I launch firefox with PStart I get full bookmarks, extension and settings, when I launch from Thunderbird I don't get the same configuration...

Fasterfox extension

Can anyone tell me if there are any implications with using the Fasterfox extension with Portable Firefox? Does it cause more wear to the USB drive with extra writes to the drive? I am happy to use it on my portable hard drive but it was using it on my flash drive which concerned me.
Thanks in advance

Multiple instances bug?

Hi,

When I tried to run PortableFirefox for the first time, it detected
the firefox.exe running on my main machine. After shutting that down,
it could then run. Also, I could then restart the main machine firefox
as well.

What is this dependency? (Note, I code Win32 in my day job, so I would
like to help fix this.)

Why uploading large files works in Portable Firefox, but gives warnings Mozilla.org Firefox?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on February 15, 2006 - 6:19am

Hi,
in Mozilla.org Firefox (Finnish version) when I upload
large files (2-6 Mb) in my SquirrelMail webmail form, in middle
of transfer it gives trasfer warning (translated to English):

"Warning: commandfile does not answer to calls.
- In this page commandfile is busy or does not
answer to calls. You can stop executing commandfile
execution or wait for it to finish.
[Stop commandfile] [Continue]"

If I click Continue, it asks the same question again many
times, until file uploading is finished.

But, in Portable Firefox, it uploads file
without warnings, straing to finish! Why? What setting does this?

1.5.0 to 1.5.0.1 bug (?)

Submitted by towsonu2003 on February 14, 2006 - 2:19pm

I did this in two different PCs with clean portable firefoxes... The patch it downloads fails, so it ends up downloading the whole thing from scratch. then update works. It's a pain if you are on dial up (slow connection)...

I wanted to report this as a bug, but couldn't find any tools to report a bug. any ideas?

userContent.css in fresh install of PortableFirefox 1.5

Submitted by AltTab on February 14, 2006 - 11:56am

If i was using "userContent.css" where would that file go? Or what folders would i have to make...
From what i know of the profiles in Mozilla Firefox, there was a string of numbers folder then the profile folder where you can put the userContent.css file in the chrome folder (not sure how this helps...)

but i would like to know for a fresh install of PortableFirefox 1.5. Because i believe after a upgrade to 1.5.1 there are several new folders made that lead to the correct folder the userContent.css needs to be in to work.
