Proxy configuration and ProxyGet not working

Submitted by cvbbulk on September 30, 2013 - 10:00am

I'm trying to use Firefox on a public computer at a Workforce center. Neither Firefox nor the Proxy Get utility will identify the proxy settings. I also do not have access to the Internet Options or Network settings in IE.
Everytime I try to visit a site, I'm asked for a Username/Pass.

However, Chrome Portable does work, and seems to auto-detect the proxy settings without any input from me. But, Chrome also respects the security settings of IE, and will also not allow me to view the details of the proxy settings under Options.

Links to some legacy versions of Firefox portable are incorrect

On the Firefox page (https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable/) under the "Legacy Versions" section, there are links to old versions, but they are incorrect, e.g. for Firefox 3.6.28, it links to https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable/localization#leg..., but only FF v24 is available for download from there.

Flashblock not working with Fx 24

Submitted by PortableDave on September 19, 2013 - 2:24pm

I am finding that the Flashblock 1.5.17 (Phil Chee)extension is not working on the PortableApps version of Firefox 24. The normal local drive version of Firefox is working fine.

I have experimented with changing about:config plugins.click_to_play set to true. But there seems to be no effect.

I have tried more than one portable version in two separate computers & the result is the same.

Has anyone found anything similar?

Ignore Computer's Plugins

Submitted by Ember Quill on September 4, 2013 - 8:13pm

I occasionally use Portable Firefox on a computer that also has the normal version of Firefox installed, mostly for privacy/security reasons. The problem is that every plugin installed on the computer shows up in Portable Firefox as well. Is there a way to keep that from happening, so Portable Firefox only uses the plugins from its own plugins folder?

Multi line tooltip

Submitted by irbash on September 4, 2013 - 10:28am

Hi All,

I want to show multi line tooltips. This works fine with normal firefox, but doesn't work with portable version.
The below example shows the tooltip in two lines in normal firefox browser (and chrome/IE etc). But the protable version shows it in one line.

Can someone tell me how to show multi-line tooltips in portable firefox?

Example: (replace [ and ] with )

[p title="Free Web
tutorials" GT W3Schools.com [/p]

Thanks,
Irfan

I've successfully installed Microsoft Silverlight 5 for Portable Firefox by installing Silverlight 5 as usual in C: and copying the contents within the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Silverlight\5.1.20513.0 and paste them in FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins. Everything works fine, and plugin status check is ok http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/.
