Javascript (I think) content not working

Submitted by timtranslates on November 15, 2013 - 10:36am

Every so often certain pages or buttons will stop working properly. These include Google Maps (typing a location in the box and pressing enter does nothing, and there's no autosuggest either, and it's impossible to drag the map to move around) and Twitter (the buttons, such as the "New Tweet" button stop working). Buttons on various other sites fail to work too.

The solution is simple: I restart Firefox. But then it comes back, perhaps 10 minutes later, perhaps 20 minutes, perhaps 2 hours.

Any idea what could be causing this and how to solve it?

No version 17.0.10 of Mozilla Firefox ESR, portable edition?

Submitted by srahjz5 on November 15, 2013 - 7:21am

Hi,

why there is no version 17.0.10 of Mozilla Firefox ESR, portable edition?

Whereas an installable ESR Version 17.0.10 exists:

https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-17.0.10esr

Also, in the past the same versions of Firefox and Thunderbird ESR portable edition where always published almost at once.

But this time (Oct 30, 2013) at portableapps.com:

Opening links

Submitted by lm8 on November 13, 2013 - 7:31am

I often use the browser feature that lets me Open Link in New Tab or Open Link in New Window by right clicking on a link and selecting one of those options. Seems to work fine for non-portable versions of browsers including Firefox. However, am unable to get it to work with Firefoxportable. Tried changing some of the Options and still no luck getting it working. Is there a specific setting I need to change or is there a work-around to get this to work properly with the portable version of Firefox? Thanks.

Easiest way to copy my FireFox Portable v25 Profile and settings from one portable Apps install to another?

Submitted by Logos A on November 7, 2013 - 10:32pm

I just installed a Firefox Portable 25 installed on a hard drive partition as a 3rd Firefox profile, and want to transfer my Profile and settings from the Firefox Portable 25 installed on a usb drive.

Since I have 3 profiles on my main portable Apps install its a little more comlicated, so I was wondering can I just copy and paste the one I want to copy? Or should I use a program like Mozbackup?

And if so what folder do i manually choose from Mozbackup? Just this folder?

X:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile

one add-on killed another

Submitted by mozfan on November 5, 2013 - 6:51pm

I was happily using CL Pics add-on in my FFP 3.6 until I decided to install Thumbnail Zoom Plus. Not only it did not work, it killed CL Pics Multiple reinstalls of several versions of CL Pics and deleted TZP did not help. Neither did system restore and Flash plug-in update. I disabled some other add-ons that were all cooperating previously - no luck. I tried a saved version of FFP on another drive - nothing. It seems that TZP changed something in Win. XP or on the laptop. CL's own pics open in Thumbnail and Gallery view, but not in List view. Please, help - thanks

Firefox Portable Beta (26) to Aurora (27) update broken

Submitted by Xyne on November 2, 2013 - 9:09am

Hi,

I had Firefox Portable with the Beta Update channel running. It was the Original portable apps FF Beta package. I had no problems using the FF update process including the now up to date version 26.

Now I have switched the update channel to Aurora (to test the new shumway flash alternative). But the update from FF 26 to 27 is not working.
I get a window saying 27 is available (or press check update button), the downloads starts an completes and then a "applying update" and "update failed" Message.

gmail in FFP 3.6.16 not opening

Submitted by mozfan on October 31, 2013 - 8:08pm

I have a FFP 3.6.16 and don't want to upgrade due to previous upgrade issues and old laptop with XP. Gmail stopped supporting this version , no longer opens and I don't want to open mail in other browsers. Anybody knows a work-around for this? If not possible, can I download a new version on the same SD card and use it only to open gmail on the same laptop or it's better to download to another card? I get my mail in TBP and need to open gmail only to make g-voice calls. Any TB or FF add-ons to make those calls without opening gmail? It would eliminate the problem, thanks

Firefox 25 portable with huge degradation of performance

Submitted by guijarrelson on October 31, 2013 - 4:23am

I updated to Firefox 25 Portable, and I had a huge problem of performance, comparing Firefox 24 Portable and Firefox 25 installed (normal installation).

Firefox 25 Portable take loading pages so long, and It fails where Firefox 24 Portable doesn't.

It could be any problem doing portable app package, that it could be impacted in app performace?

Firefox Profile for Windows & Linux Compatibility

Submitted by tanker on October 24, 2013 - 12:23pm

I am contemplating on switching to Linux on my home system. (My work system is Windows 7.) I'm trying to plan on what adjustments I will have to make by doing so.

I have Firefox portable on a thumb drive that I use between work and home. Are the Firefox profile files (not program) and structure interchangeable between the two versions of Firefox, Windows and Linux?

So I can copy the profile from the thumb drive (Win) to the Firefox profile directory in Linux and Linux to thumb drive?

Thanks.

FireFox+Java Portable not working on Windows XP

Submitted by baja006 on October 21, 2013 - 11:05am

I have a requirement to use FireFox Portable 10.0.3 and Java Portable (version 6 Update 45) for a web app that has these stringent version requirements. On Windows XP (SP3), when a local installation of Java is present, Java in the FireFox portable 10.0.3 and Java Portable 6 Update 45 package does not work. It launches java (I see java.exe in the process table), but it just hangs and does nothing. On Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Window 8 it works fine - just not on Windows XP.
