Firefox Portable 14.01 takes long time to load, timeout on scripts

Submitted by roddersg on September 10, 2012 - 3:10am

I have never had this problem before except for the last few weeks when I updated firefox. Even clean installations have this error (without extensions or plugins)

When opening pages with have some javascript content, Firefox takes a long time to load the page (about:home, loads immediately). I even get errors like script taking too long to load etc on educational pages. This did not happen with the older versions. The initial load happens and then firefox does not respond for a long time.

Does FF portable install Java (TM) Platform SE plugin by default?

Submitted by 4cheers 4 John ... on September 4, 2012 - 4:36pm

Hi folks,

When I clean install Firefox Portable v3.6.24, no Java anything shows in the plugins but when I clean install Firefox Portable v15, the 'Java (TM) Platform SE' plugin is always present. SO...

Is the 'Java (TM) Platform SE' plugin now a standard part of a clean Firefox Portable install?

a) If so, given the security alert re Java (and the fact that, to my knowledge, I never use it anyway), how do I remove it? Particularly since the removal instructions I have read...

FlashPlayer 11.4.402 crashing on Firefox Portable

Submitted by petergrainge on August 30, 2012 - 10:19am

When I attempt to use any site that is using Flash, Firefox Portable reports the plugin has crashed.

I have used Adobe's uninstaller and installed the latest FlashPlayer 11.4.402. No change.

Flash works fine in the installed version of Firefox and in Chrome and IE, it is just crashing in the portable version but that's what I use most.

Blend xB Browser with portable MFF ...

Recently I have been checking out HideIP options when browsing ...
AdvOR crashed almost every time I tried to use it.

I then tried the xB Browser and finally managed to see how it works.
xB was last updated around 2010 with the then current MFF browser ...
I found out that I/one can (easily) blend the xB (portable) with this MFF portable "install" ...
It seems xB modelled its portable install on the portableapps model.
It was very easy to put the xB files/folders in the proper place in my MFF portable install
