Firefox Portable

Hi am trying to install wmp plugin for FF3 RC1 but can't get it done correctly. I'm hoping anyone here can help me. Thanks! BTW I already d/l the wmp plugin in .exe file.

I am using XP SP2 and downloaded Portable Apps Suite v 1.1.0.0. to Downloads file on D drive.
1) Ran setup and installed Suite in Program Files on D Drive.
2) Clicked on Start PortableApps, clicked on PortableApps then copied SudokuPortable folder to Flash Drive.
3)Opened Sudoku on flash drive and all OK.
4) Then Copied FirefoxPortable folder to flash drive and tried to open. Microsoft reports,
"Firefox has encountered a problem and needs to close"
5)Tried to open FirefoxPortable from D Drive and all OK.

os: windows xp pro + sp2 - FFP 2.0.0.14, used on my pc (as default browser)

if I try to open a weblink on my desktop like

'HTTP://WWW.GOOGLE.DE'

by double click I get the error message "the protocol http is not associated with any registered program" although I DID associate the weblink-type with PPC in the windows filetype list.

if I open the link via right click context menu I get a poor reduced google page with the local address

'FILE:///D:/BOUND-INSTANCES/DESKTOP/GOOGLE.URL'.

I've loaded FF3RC1 on my usb drive and the performance is terribly slow. Has anyone had this happen, if so how did you fix it?

I put PFF3 RC1 on my USB drive today and gave it a try. I noticed it is leaving files behind. They are left in the folders of the local install of Firefox. Two folders are created. One called Crash Reports and the other called Extensions. They are located at

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Extensions

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports

I delete them and they are recreated every time I use PFF3 RC1. They were not there before running PFF3 RC1

I have Portable Firefox 2.0.0.14 installed on my Portable USB Hard Drive. I installed about 54 extensions on Portable Firefox using my home PC. When I came into work, Firefox loaded much quicker than expected and there was hardly any extensions. I checked in the Addons and they still seam to be there.

They're not disabled or uninstalled. I am behind the proxy. I bet you when I go home they'll all appear again. However the funny thing is I can't say synchronise my bookmarks because all the addons that are in the menus are gone as well.

I am using the latest Firefox Portable. I open FirefoxPortable.exe and then it loads firefox.exe, which works fine. But I notice (in Process Explorer) that FirefoxPortable.exe closes after opening firefox.exe. Furthermore, when I close the Firefox Browser, firefox.exe still runs (as seen in Process Explorer) until I have to kill it.

I am on Windows XP and do have a standard version of Firefox as my default browser. I am not sure if this is causing the problem. Please help.

I need FF2 with a fairly clean profile for my work as a developer, but I use FF3 (non-portable) for normal stuff (like mainly gmail). I've been unable to get FF2 portable to start when FF3 is still running. It beeps at me and says "Another instance of Firefox is already running...".

Is there a way to disable this check so that I can keep FF2 loaded to do work and still run FF3 with all my plugins? It seems like since FF2 is "portable" that this check is pretty useless.

I recently tried to add VLC plugin to my portable FF (added libvlc.dll & npvlc.dll to plugins dir) to try and add DivX support.

the plugin seems to be properly installed, its showing in about: plugins and some file types have been automatically assigned to it in the file management options. But in neither of these locations does it mention DivX files types.

I wonder if anyone knows how to do this?

I use FF Portable at work and on other computers and the full version of FF on my laptop at home.

Is there any way of synchonising cookies and passwords between them? I know that there is an addon (Foxybookmarks) for doing this for bookmarks.
