Extension-problem "FlashGot" - but only with FF3?!

Submitted by VSG on April 21, 2008 - 1:52pm

Hi, there!
Though I haven't posted here before, I've been using (and recommending) the portable-apps for the last year or even a bit longer.
Thanks for the great work!

I am also testing the Beta 5 of Firefox 3 and I found a little bug with the "FlashGot" extension that appeared when FlashGot was updated a few weeks back.
Since then each time you open Firefox in the directory above Firefox Portable a new subdirectory is created (for example in the root of the USB-drive).

The new directory actually is a part of the windows-user-profile reading:

Firefox always looses all it´s settings....

I am in Patagonia trying to run fFox 2 port in iCafes from a usb2 drive. Every time I boot it up it is as if it reverts back to the first time. I have to reset the google tool bar. My home page has changed, auto update is on (all options setting go back to default), my bookmarks are lost and my about:config settings are gone. What causes this? What good is a portable app if it must be completely reconfigured every time you use it? I have tried both 1.5 and v2 & all is the same.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Hi All
Was halfway thru posting a new topic about errors I got trying to visit geeks.com, when I remembered to try a new thing I found a few weeks ago.
It worked, showing me the site was down, so I thought I'd share it..

http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

down for everyone or just me checks the site themselves and lets you know the result. Handy.

What is the best way for thsi?

Hi,

I have the latest FF on my Desk and want a copy of it with its info on my laptop as I am going away.

I already have the latest FF on the laptop but don't want to change it if I can help it.

Can I run both of them on the laptop and how can I install FFP using my current cookies, passwords, blah blah. Is it better to install on the Desk or on the laptop?

Thanks

oz

FirefoxPortable.ini + launcher bug

Submitted by wraithdu on April 18, 2008 - 3:34pm

This has probably been around for a while. According to the launcher source, these three INI params are required -

"${APPNAME}Directory"
"ProfileDirectory"
"SettingsDirectory"

So try using this INI -

[FirefoxPortable]
FirefoxDirectory=App\firefox
ProfileDirectory=Data\profile
SettingsDirectory=Data\settings
# PluginsDirectory=Data\plugins
# FirefoxExecutable=firefox.exe
# AdditionalParameters=
# LocalHomepage=
DisableSplashScreen=true
# AllowMultipleInstances=false
# DisableIntelligentStart=false
# SkipChromeFix=false
# SkipCompregFix=false

FFP leaving '0 KB' files behind in 'Data\profile\Cache', not deleted when 'cache' is cleared from FF

Submitted by blahblah on April 17, 2008 - 1:47pm

Hey...
I was shocked to find out that FFP is leaving '0 KB' files behind in 'Data\profile\Cache', with the original names. I had 208 of these files laying in there. Then people would be able to see which files I have checked out :(.
Here is a screenshot of the issue: http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/4678/0kbfilesgt9.png . There's both .wmv files and .php files.
