Install Flash in FF Portable 8.0.1

Submitted by BenB on December 7, 2011 - 8:09pm

I’d like to install Flash player in Firefox Portable 8.0.1. I read on this forum that an easy workaround is to copy the files from my local machine and paste them in the portable Firefox plugin folder under data. My home computer does have Flash and it works well. I looked for the files on my computer in system32\macromed\flash but didn’t find the files. My local machine runs Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit edition. Can you tell me where the Flash files are? Thanks.

JAVA applets are not displaying

Submitted by tx00824 on December 4, 2011 - 10:07am

Hi all I have a weird problem. I used portable firefox since v3.0.19 on the same machine at work and before version v3.6.24 I have used many other versions and all of them worked flawlessly (currently I am on v3.6.23 and there is no problems at all).

Recently I've tried to use v3.6.24 and v8.0.1 (while ago I also tried v7) and none of them works with JAVA applets. When I try the same website which works on the older browsers, this new ones just display the source code of the html site containing the applet (just a plain text like in a notepad).

Old Bug Lives Again - extensions show up as being not compatible

Submitted by Kernel on November 30, 2011 - 11:40pm

This is an old bug, if I remember correctly. Over half of my extensions in FFP 8.0.1 show up as being incompatible with Firefox 8.0.1 until I manually update all the extensions.

This occurred in 3.x, got fixed, and now I'm seeing it again here.

Edit:

Here is the last time this bug was around:

It was acknowledged to be a bug, and was *fixed*. Somewhere along the way, the bug came back.

Problem Opening Pages In New Tab With RunLocally=true

Submitted by chinnen on November 30, 2011 - 1:09pm

I am running Firefox Portable with RunLocally=true because I have Firefox Portable set up on a file server, and multiple people will be accessing it from different workstations. I have it set to true to it will copy it locally to their workstation so changes will not be made to Firefox Portable on the file server.

I am having a problem opening links in new tab from a new process. I have -new-tab set on the AdditionalParmaters line to open new links in a new tab.

Here are the steps I am doing to try and get this to work.

1. Run firefoxportable.exe http://www.yahoo.com

Why is my firefox so SLOW!?

Submitted by mlk2 on November 29, 2011 - 9:54am

Hi, was wondering, I have a Sandisk USB, I used to have U3 on it and Firefox was perfect.

I removed the U3 drive and got portable apps and now firefox(and chrome) are near unusable, I've used every trick in the book with settings etc but it's incredibly slow, it will hang for 30 seconds, let me click something, hang for 20 seconds, let me use firefox for 50 seconds, youtube wil freeze up, simply it's freezing up over and over.

Does anyone know why, or any setting, as I said same USB, same computer with U3 worked perfect.

Refresh localhost site does not reuse CSS, images, or javascript resources

If I go here:
http://localhost/sitefolder/
I get the full page and all resources. "Reload current page" and Firefox 8.0.0 will not request the resources, nor will it fetch any cached resources.

If I go here:
http://www.FQDN.com
I get the full page and all resources. "Reload current page" and Firefox 8.0.0 will display any resources in the cache after getting a 302 response.

This is observed with LiveHTTPHeaders 0.17.

However, RequestPolicy shows requests for these resources being made and not blocked.
